That SSD is only 16gb making it a hybrid what it does is moves the stuff you use most onto the SSD for easy access and the rest goes on a regular HDD but its still quicker than just HDD
Both of the graphics cards only support 3 moniters the better one is only necessary for gamers
ah..... so getting a 240gb SSD would solve all issues ;)?

it's an OK deal
all you need is the cheaper graphics card (unless you're a gamer)
(just something to keep in mind with all HDD, even though now it will work great in a few months it will start getting slow one thing to do to help keep it faster is to run ccleaner once in a while like once a month)
I'm adding the SSD, so shouldnt that solve the HDD problem? so your saying I would be able to connect 3-5 monitors on just the regular graphics card?

I would add 16gb SSD and 1GB Nividia graphics card (so I can connect 3 screens to the monitor) - no idea if the graphics card helps for that lol. what do you guys think?

This Toshiba Satellite S55-B5280, 15.6" Laptop, 12GB Memory, 1TB Hard Drive, Intel Core i7, Windows 8.1
Is considered a lot of money or it's also weak?
Im going to guess and say that I think its 5400rpm and with that said, its not worth the money

Nice find
Great deal
@killamatic12 this should be great for you
thanks. That seems nice, but I dont really need 16bg- 8gb would be enough. Plus $900 is a little too much and if I can get almost the same thing with a desktop and be cheaper, I probably would go for it even though it would be more convenient with a laptop

I don't really know what day traders do to tell you if an ssd is what is needed it all depends what type of programs you run
I have no idea. I'm not good with computers at all but lets just say people that day trade have computers like gamers. I would need to look through multiple charts and have a chat room running as well as the platform I'm trading with.... I would need something to connect 2 monitors at least....

There are 3 types of hard drives 5400rpm, 7200rpm, and SSD. There is a performance gain from 5400 to 7200 and a "higher end" laptop should not have 5400, the difference between either speed HDD to SSD is huge the problem is that a 240GB ssd costs about $90 and larger sizes cost much more and for some reason if they put the ssd inside you are paying at least 2-3 times that price just for the ssd upgrade
so if someone were to want to day trade and needs speed, he would get an SSD or 7200rpm but i7 is not necessarily needed?

It's a nice deal however these laptops are not the $1500 laptops you think it is even though it's an i7 it's a weak i7 and the hard drive is slow
what kind of hard drive is considered fast?

You know Wall Street hates AAPL when u see :

NFLX jumps 17% when reporting a profit of $24 Million  ,
AMZN jumps 12% when reporting a $550 Million loss

AAPL reports a $13 BILLION profit and drops 3%
its probably going to close at 134-135 though

anyone going from monsey to queens in the next hour or two? I need some dry cleaning to get there

Credit Cards / Re: The Target Prepaid REDcard
« on: April 26, 2015, 11:30:24 AM »
When I was buying items at the target, the cashier always pushes for the customers to apply for the RC to save 5%. When it came to me I said, I have one and used it. She then asked me where I got it. I saw that she really wanted it so I was nice and then asked if she can load my card. She did without any hesitation. What I don't understand is, she is advertising the card to every customer, why can't she just apply for the card like she would do if a customer  agreed to get the RC?

Anyone know of a good deal for a laptop in the 450-600$ range that would be fast and good for business work (i will buy a warranty hopefully so it doesn't need to be top of the line in sturdiness but i would like it to work well)
Look for Lenovo ThinkPad with an i5-4200M processor or higher, these laptops aren't pretty but very sturdy and have much better processors than the ultrabook type processor. You should be able to find something under $550.
I bought a Lenovo G500 (intel-core i5-i believe it was 4200)in the beginning of Jan 14. I've had problems with it. I don't download much on my computer so it can work faster. It just wasnt working right but I didnt know what the problem was. Then when I called in for a battery problem, ironically the laptop froze and when I tried turning it on, it wouldnt load. The tech guy tried many things and ultimately told me to send it in. After I hung up the phone it started working again. But again, there was definitely something wrong. They ended up changing a ton of things including the motherboard and it worked ok until a couple of months ago. It wasnt working properly again and eventually when it would go to sleep, it wouldnt start up again or when I shut down, it would shut down the programs and there would be a black screen but the fans would work and the green light AND the BATTERY light was on (even though it wasnt charging). When I would turn it on, it doesnt load until a restart. I'm out of warranty now but I complained and they are going to "fix the problem" free of charge. I'm hoping to sell it after I get it back because I'm afraid of more problems. So I'm not too sure about Lenovo's but their customer service is amazing so I would recommend a 3 yr warranty

Tech Talk / Re: Computer Troubleshooting/Help Master Thread

My laptop had different hardware problems and when I was under warranty I sent it in and they fixed it. Its giving me more problems now and I'm not under the warranty. I spoke to someone high in the company and he's "giving a one time out of warranty fix." Last time I gave it in, I thought they would scan for ALL problems but it turns out that they didn't. This time, being my last time, what problems would make them do a FULL check up?

The status of my rebate has been reading "sent.....etc." for the past 2 months. What's taking so long

Credit Cards / AA Bonus Miles
« on: April 15, 2015, 12:32:40 PM »
I got an email stating that if I gift miles to someone I'll get bonus miles. If i gift 100k, there will be 60k bonus miles. Did anyone else get this email? If I gift them which account will get the bonus? (if this has been talked about in a different thread I apologize in advance)
