First check to see if you were looking at the exact same flights on the exact same days and both searches were for 7 tickets. Also sometimes there is a lag in the system that will be updated shortly thereafter...

@moshep - Irql is very often a memory/RAM issue. Try reseating the RAM chips, or remove one and see if you still have this issue.

Are those potato chips or corn chips? Where should I sit when I eat them? ;)

I'm only partially joking. I understand what you say I should do, however I am woefully inept at completing that task.

What is IRQL? What can be wrong with my laptop?

In the past when I had this problem, it was suggested that I use a program like this ( don't remember if it was exactly this) to check my ram. If it came back problematic, replacing the ram was an easy and fairly inexpensive solution. Hopefully this will be it and you won't have to deal with anything more complicated.
To change the ram on any computer you can google how to change the ram on that specific model and there will often at least be instructions if not a youtube video.

Good Luck

I believe that this was alluded to in the blog comments - but the "better safe than sorry" argument trumps all. Flight attendants were told after 9/11 that if they feel even the slightest intimidation, they have the complete autonomy to make the decision to have someone booted. If I remember correctly, the airlines have made it clear that they will not second-guess those decisions.

Granted - some will have bad judgment and poor decisions will be made. However, the airlines have surmised that it is in the interest of everyone on board to be overly cautious when dealing with even a remote possibility of a problem - probably the right decision.

The FA lying is a somewhat irrelevant aspect of the story - sure, she lied. However, she could have told the pilot that she wants him removed because she didn't like the way he was looking at her. The protocol is there - she fluffed it up for credibility. If she gets called out she can always say she thought he was taking additional pictures and she was wrong but still did not like his attitude. Also, there is no way to know if he actually took any additional pictures - its his word against hers.

United will compensate him because of the huge negative PR this is having but also because it doesn't seem against policy to take pictures. Anyone who has ever flown in C/F has experienced people taking pictures - it always happens.

The craziest part of this story is how so many of the people who were on the flight have commented on the blog article - definitely helps his case/story because he has some many people corroborating...

I would call Orbitz - they will probably book you direct or give you an entirely alternate routing for free because it was a carrier-initiated switch. If they don't, hang up and call again - shouldn't be too difficult to convince them to do as it is Delta/Orbitz's issue to find a route for you...

Call during Israeli business hours so you can speak to them as they have more power and usually more flexibility to make these changes. If they say no, hang up and call again. Eventually, you might be able to convince someone to do it. Some agents will do it the first time around and some will tell you it is no longer possible. Don't ask if they can do it - tell them what you are doing and usually they will go along with it.

Good luck - worst case you get to enjoy some quality El Al hold music...

rooms were nice? Large? Pools? Beach? Any private/semi private beaches around? Thnx!

I did not end up going to the beach even though it is literally right across the street. There is one pool on the same floor as the lobby (not the ground floor.) The pool is cool just because the staircase to get to the lower level goes through the pool and the views of the ocean happen to be awesome.

I remember the room I got but I do not remember how or why. It may have been Gold status but I had a corner room with a living room overlooking the ocean and a separate bedroom. I think I just asked nicely and they upgraded me. It may have been easier since they have so many different types of rooms and upgrades.

I did not get a chance to look around for private beaches and I did not look at any of the other rooms. I did use the Acura MDX that the hotel provides with a chauffeur to bring me to daven and also to the closest kosher restaurant - Emunah Cafe (5-7 minute drive) - which they were happy to do except that I needed to reserve it well ahead of when I needed it.

I was very impressed with the level of service which seemed more five star-esque although I am sure this varies greatly from employee to employee and customer to customer. Overall I was certainly satisfied with my C&P stay...

Anyone stay in the W Fort Lauderdale?

Yea - last year in February. What would you like to know? I was pretty impressed with it but that may be because I came in with low expectations...

Up In The Air / Re: Is Hidden city routing illegal?
« on: January 08, 2013, 10:38:03 AM »
If u do a hidden city flight, such as MIA-NYC-BWI for example, would u get the miles for the trip if u don't take the final leg, and get off at nyc?

Nope. You only get miles for the flights you took...

Any one know anything about the restaurant Noya?  Hashgacha? Is the food good?

I was there last week and it was pretty good. They have specials which allow you to get an appetizer (or two) and a main for 105, 125, or 145 NIS depending on which main you choose. They don't always volunteer this information so be sure to ask.

I am flying on LX next week en route to TLV from ZRH. The ticket is an LY ticket. Will I be able to credit miles to A3? I know that typically it is based on operating carrier but does anyone have experience when traveling on code-shares that span different alliances?

It most probably won't be available for more than a few hours (if that) - book now and then you have 24 hours (or until Shabbos) to cancel.

I bought this a little while back and I have not used it because it doesn't have the capability for a built-in Sprint (wwan) card. If anyone here wants it, I am willing to flip it for $900 OBO. It is a refurb but it seems flawless inside and out and was awesome the few times I turned it on...
