this was already posted on Kol Haolam? We never confirmed final ad.. I guess someone just shared it... Can we get a vote? yes link or no link?

Yes link, and it should be the one.

An anonymous ad is more like to be ignored

Just an idea what if you include a vanity URL that redirects to Dan's DDMS post or to the PSA thread? Something like check out for more information/a discussion on this topic

I think calling them scammers takes away from the power of the ad. The point is that it's not safe even if the "borrower" is well meaning.

Maybe some more clarity on why disputing won't work?

The following emphasizes how important Jewish life/atmosphere is, in addition to kosher and amenities.

It was the early 1960s, and I had discovered that too many Orthodox men and women who were going to out-of-town colleges were dropping Yiddishkeit and intermarrying. At first the number was three percent, but this number was going up rapidly, and this alarmed me.

I called together the officers of Young Israel and I said, “We have a problem!” We agonized over it, and we decided to ask a number of Jewish leaders what to do.
“Imagine a young man sitting in a college dining room with his non-Jewish peers,” the Rebbe continued. “How long is he going to put on his yarmulke and eat cottage cheese every single day? And what is he going to do when a girl says to him, ‘Take a taste of my lunch, it’s delicious!’ How can he deny her? After a while, the peer group will pressure him – not because they mean to pressure, not because they are opposed to what he is doing, but because that’s just how life is. And in the liberal atmosphere of the college campus, how can he not yield to that pressure?”
And then the Rebbe gave us his advice: “What you have to do is create a program to bring together all the young Jewish men and women in one place at the most vulnerable time. That most vulnerable time is not in the classroom when they are each interested in their own notes or their own marks, but in the non-classroom area. The best thing is to establish kosher ‘dining clubs’ on college campuses.”

If it's not on the list, then it's not an officially recognized Chabad House. There are hundreds of non-official Chabads across the globe in addition to the thousands of official Chabad Houses.

Is it just me or did @TimT Post something yesterday

Scary how many people there are out there with the exact mind(less)frame. Coming from the great colleges & school system (that we’re all supposed to emulate)

I've had some people reach out to me via PM requesting info. I've tried to respond but got "mailbox full". So if you reached out to me for info and haven't received a response, reach out again with an alternative method to respond (email, text, whatsapp, etc).

On a side note, question for mods: does this thread set the record for new usernames created as a result?

I think new users can't get PMs until their post count is above a certain number

Just for a bit of background, this guy's father is the "Rabbi" of Elal.

Hayut grew up in the predominantly ultra-Orthodox city of Bnei Brak in central Israel and as a child studied in a Talmud Torah elementary school near his home. His father, Yohanan Hayut, is the chief rabbi of El Al.

I deal with wealthy people on a regular basis (sadly, I am not one of them  :-[)and they rarely use credit cards. Their preferred payment method is either old-fashioned check, cash or ACH.

What age range?

I got the ION Explorer at Sam's Club for $99. I think it was on sale.

I am very happy with it, and it works well even outdoors (I use it for our public menorah lighting).

It has a USB charging port, but if I remember correctly, the port does not work as input.

Seems odd that the article doesn't state more clearly that he merely pretended to be "Simon Leviev"

Ye, I was coming here to make that clear for anyone who didn't ready through the whole article...

Seriously ? So they believe that the people will have money later and steal from them if they say anything public ?

No, not at all. From the comments here it seems that they are being told that the only way it will work out is if they have time. (for what, I don't know. Maybe to liquidate the inventory?)

With the exception of the CH court docs, the ratio of Hock/talk to details on this thread is staggering

The court documents are not from the CH story
