"Well the Rabbis wanted more money and the Indians didn't want to pay"
There’s nothing major here and no politics, the stand didn’t want to pay the cost of keeping it under hashgacha.

Keep in mind that it takes a mashgiach more time to drive downtown and park than it does for him to pay a visit to a local establishment.

Seems like CK and/or the mashgichim wanted more money and couldn't get it.
That makes it sound like CK is being greedy. More likely the stand couldn’t pay what it costs CK to send a mashgiach down to the stadium.

Nothing major, but even just holding a door for someone, or letting someone with a couple items go before you when you have a full cart is a small kiddush Hashem.

People are only human. Everyone lost faith in Dovid Hamelech yet he emerged perhaps even greater than he ever was before. In this generation we are quick to write people off. Great tannaim and amoraim had personal failures yet were towering spiritual giants.

I’m never shocked or appalled whenever there’s a scandal involving a rabbi and women. We all have taivos and there’s a reason yichud is assur for everyone, whether they’re a rosh yeshiva or not. To say “how could a rabbi do...” is the same as saying rabbis aren’t human, they’re malachim.

You know what amazes me?
This thread has grown 93 pages in the last month, yet we still have no info as to what course of action any victims are taking. And I don’t believe any court froze any of the merchants assets either.

Listening now to the Brenner interview for the first time.

A few takeaways so far.

1. I say um too much.
2. It does sound like AT is personally involved in $50MM+ of these cases, though which side for each is unclear.
3. AT says disputing can get you in criminal trouble as you affirming under oath that you don't recognize the charge, but an initial chargeback isn't an affirmation under oath. Of course it may come to that, but it should not be hard to at least initiate a chargeback without those repercussions.
IIRC you mentioned in the interview that merchants pay 2-3% fees on each swipe, so that equals 36% interest.
While we can all agree that this form of “funding” costs a lot more than a normal bank loan, those numbers are off. If these swipes swiped in the first couple days of the statement cycle, they would have approximately 55 days to pay, meaning they only need to swipe each card 7 times per year. 2-3% merchant fees equals 14-21% APR.
