Re: 2016 Election Pick Your Poison Master Thread

if trump gives us vouchers i dont care if he goes around the whole day grabbing *****

I'm pretty sure you're just making an irreverent joke (something I am guilty of on this forum as well) but if you are serious, then I want to tell you in all seriousness that what you wrote is an inherent contradiction. You want vouchers in order to send your child to private school, which I am assuming means yeshiva, which I am assuming is in order to learn Torah, which is because I am assuming you want him to be a good Jew. But all of that becomes irrelevant if in order to get it we have to desensitize ourselves. As I said, it's an inherent contradiction. I'll get off my soap box now.

Re: Went through the process of house hunting/buying

Right now there isn't much better. Spoken to many mortgage brokers, and as of now there isn't much of a difference. For 1/8 lower it ain't worth it.
cmiiw but one can't apply for 2 mortgages on the same property at the same time.
You can run applications with multiple places will only cost you the appraisal fee. Read up thread where I and others highly recommend doing it

Re: Dispute Credit pull?
Anyone disagree with anything?

1. Banks need permissible purpose to pull (soft). Practically, major FI do this all the time for determining pre-approved population, for identifying spend engagement or credit line increase opportunities and a myriad of other projects.
2. As a consumer, you can freeze, which means that even with a permissible purpose, they can't pull your report for any of these reasons. As a result, you're unlikely to receive much marketing from them, and you definitely won't receive pre-approved offers. If you opt out of marketing (different from freezing your report) you literally will not get anything.
3. Banks could - but don't - do a hard pull on existing customers. Why they don't do this, even though they could, probably can be chalked up to erring on the side of caution especially with mounting pressures from consumer advocacy groups and government bodies in the entire credit arena. Fines have been flying. I can also confirm that FIs were pressured into supplying FICO scores.
4. Since banks don't do hard pulls unless you ASK them to (let alone all the time) it is certainly worth paying attention to your hard pulls - activites such as MBMs, refined these days to mean applying on same day with same bank, are still good ideas to reduce pulls. If you can eliminate a HP with a phone call, it's worth it.
5. Can y'all hug it out now?

Excellent summary and an excellent example of how a true long time contributor should behave. Thank you

Re: Silent Killer Guys, I've argued with aygart (left it lowercase for you) plenty. Frankly, you guys are being ridiculously unfair and assigning positions and opinions to him which he has never laid claim to. Stop "reading into" his comments, and just read them.

He has posted his desire for experts in the field to be the ones coordinating and directing campaigns, and never once intimated that Rabbinic authority be consulted over medical and psychological experts.

Re: Pesach Program in Greece Cancelled Just Now!
Exactly. Times change. Some old feeling won't be felt anymore as they did in the day it took a boat ride to cross the Atlantic. Those days aren't coming back.
We also have electricity by our Seders. Judaism and our kids will survive this too.

I do think as time goes on, especially at how fast the world is changing that without some effort from parents kids can end up missing out in being happy, understanding, appreciative individuals.

Re: Smoking Meats So i smoked a brisket for the first time today. I used a masterbuilt 30" smoker. It was a 5lb second cut.   Did the rub last night (black pepper, kosher salt, garlic powder and a little brown sugar)  put it on the smoker at 8am. I used a mix of wood. Sprayed with apple juice the last 2.5 hours and  hours And crutched it about 1.5 hours before i Took it off. Took it off at 5:15 when it hit 195. I needed to crank the temperature up towards the end since i needed to serve it today. I let it rest for 1 hour in towels and a cooler.  For the most part it Came out soft as butter and tasted delicious. Was definitely something my guests will want the next time they come.  Thanks for everyone that contributes to this thread for giving me the push to try smoking meat. (I have been following this thread for ages)

Re: Will Amazon vs Walmart war ever end?... Walmart already won. Neither one is going to put the other out of business. Walmart's purpose is to make themselves a full fledged competition with Amazon. Mission accomplished. The question is how long they will continue it for added publicity.
