Up In The Air / Re: How late can you get to the airport

Depends on airline AND airport.

Yes, each place different -- it may even depend on the curbside check-in policy and the attendant that day. There and also at the inside counter..

It's that ebay post. Some external sites had links to this thread.

That would explain it - a 3rd party link.
Otherwise the highest were when the DDMSite had the delta glitch, the ELAl sale to Israel, and Black Friday.

Which is a better/nicer hotel, W Hollywood or W Los Angeles?
i've been to both -- Liked them both..
More rooms, more space in the Los Angeles rooms (referring to "W" Westwood?),
however, depending on if you have a location preference to be closer to Pico, or Kosher Restaurants, or not...

45 min ime,
I waited last time on line and got to the counter at 6:16 my flight was on 7 and they didn't let me check in any luggages.
that may depend on the airport, some airports have automated baggage delivery via conveyor belt.
Perhaps those permit under 45 minutes.

My wife says she needs one of these.
......
Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Here's a link my brother sent me a while ago -- it's nice and big. Sophisticated. Can roll/bring into dining room, if needed...
Looks like it's built well. It's on sale for $179 !

So security doesn't communicate with the airlines?
they don't, but after standing in the luggage check-in line for over 90 minutes,
I've had to show them a boarding pass for 20-30 minutes in advance of departure to get ahead/in front in security.
(i.e. just because SW decided to have only 2 luggage curbside check-in at LAX when there are 10 empty desks,
resulting in literally 90+ minutes of snaking up and down the outdoor lines,
it was their company's luggage wait time, I've told them at that point we need to go to the front of security.)

You show them your boarding pass and they will let you ahead... of course, YMMV..

Credit Cards / Re: Amex ditching forex fees on all Delta-branded cards!
« on: February 09, 2014, 09:29:36 PM »
There's a difference between the two. "Spending" implies using this card for all your daily spend needs. Doesn't mean you can't "use" it in a well-calculated fashion to achieve certain goals. ;)

Is anyone familiar with E-Z rent a car at LAX? They have a convertible for $65/day for my travel dates.
i got a pretty good rate from Universal Leasing's rental link: U-Save Car Rental in LA.
It may be worth a call:  310-550-5725
They may occasionally do a free airport pick-up.
The only convertible listed here is the Boxster, but perhaps they have others.

On The Road / Re: Barcelona Tower Suites - Cancun

Anyone has the hotels phone #'the one that I found online on kayak - no answer
if everyone's calling now and all the customer service people are busy,
and then because of all the questions, they see the 'typo' and want to invalidate all the reservations from the past 24 hours,
then I'd highly suggest that people not keep calling them.  Enjoy the $12 per night for 3 br. in Cancun.

it is checked in. You can stand at the counter until after the flight. Who cares if you are at the counter. Rude on their part but thats the rules
+1
Yes, those are the rules, but it's not right that at the exact airport at the exact airline,
this other delta "glitchee" couple got to arrive at CLE at 10:50 and plane depart at 11:06!!??!??
(takes me that long just to "opt out" of the 'radiation scanners' and get the whole 2-TSA-member private room pat-down procedure with blue glove explosives testing...)
My parents had glitch tickets to LA and were no going to go. My father woke up yesterday looked out the window and said "WTH" no way I'm passing up LA for 8 inches of snow! I dropped them off at CLE at 10:50 their plane left at 11:06 they were in their seats by 10:58.

So here's the question, (assuming this fare will be honored) if I made a booking but wrote 2 guest, can I bring 4-6 guests without updating the booking/paying extra fees?
+1
If it's a 3 bedroom reservation, then I'd think it's allowed!

The 2 of you will check in. Whoever comes and visits can obviously sleep in the other rooms. Making sure there are additional towels, etc.. would be helpful.

Also, if concerned, you can probably call the hotel directly in a week and ask them if there would be another charge added to your room if 4 more people came.
If they say that it's no extra charge, then you're all set!  :)

CLE sucks. Came to gate exactly 30 min before departure. They didn't check us in. Getting us for tomorrow ... Saying that we had to be checked in 30 min prior, not just at desk
you'll get to fly tomorrow?

Not necessarily. Cancun is quite the journey. Reviews on this place seem far from stellar and in fact I've seen the regular rate at about $70. If that's the case this place may not be worth the trip. Several posters on DDMS have their trips very soon so I hope I hear from them about their trip and I'll decide accordingly.
true, but once you are in Cancun, there are also lots of other great spots to visit, etc....

how is that possible?
I just saw this story about CLE posted today on the Delta glitch page (maybe they didn't have check-in?):

Will do a blind taste test when I get back to CLE :)
Yes! great idea! you can let us know the results.
I used to do that with my students (with Trader Joe's, WalMart/Sam's Choice, and Giant Eagle).
Without looking, they could easily pick out the TJ's!

They've all gone dairy since, hence the need for a new wholesale run.
