I don't think you can do anything once its already being processed. You can only pay for expediting up front before you send it in, so it would be too late to do anything at this point.

I called them and they said I can expedite it for 60 dollars. anyone have any experience with it? does it speed things up ?

I got all of my children's passports aside for 1. What would be the process to expedite it from this point?
 Online it says that they received the passport application, and is in process.

how long would you say the whole process takes?

we took a number of kids and it took around an hour.. they don't allow everyone in at once, one parent waits outside while the other fills out paperwork, then they send in one kid at a time for photos..

There was one woman working in the passport room. She was very nice and helpful and gave the kids coloring books, you can definitely bring a bunch of kids. The only difference due to corona was the big plastic divider between the room and the counter.
