$1300 if you don't have Global entry yet. ($1500 if you apply at the EOY)

Also, how does the lounge access program they advertise compare to the Plat and Citi?

Eta: the whole $1000 ticket thing seems to be marketing bs to hit Amex.
It's a %2 cash back card. No matter what you redeem for those 50,000 "points" will be a $1k statement credit it seems.

If they refund the AF this may be a really good card to get in December. Will be even better if the lounge access works after closing..

+1 if the AF is refundable I may take the plunge. $1200 for a TU pull is worth it in my books

You are correct
Points are worth 2% when redeemed for cash back as a statement credit.
I still don't get the double points for airfare?
And there is no link to Barclays to confirm the details??

It seems to be a marketing gimmic, they're saying that it's double the points value than leading points programs ie Amex MR. I could be wrong

Who's  website is that? -1 DOUBLE POINTS when redeemed for airfare through our Industry-Leading Rewards Program. 50,000 points will get you a $1,000 ticket on any airline with no blackout dates or seat restrictions

-1 it seems to also be for statement credit

Don't tell me I missed that opportunity...

The rules MAY not change for the Plat, BGR, and SPG as these terms have not been amended. Too soon to know what will really happen

Update: False alarm (for now). I just confirmed that only the Gold level cards (Amex Gold, Aeroplan Gold) are no longer part of the refer-a-friend program.... The 15k glitch is still alive and well so even you have an Amex Gold/AP Gold you can still participate in the RAF program at the rate of 15k per referral. For now.

Amex Canada is more or less killing their refer-a-friend program................................

Quote
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Effective January 11, 2016, this Card is no longer eligible for a referral bonus. You can still refer the Card to your friends and family but you will not earn a referral bonus for any approved referral.
Your friend could earn our highest Gold Rewards Card points offer of 25,000 Bonus Membership Rewards points when they charge $500 in purchases to their Card in the first 3 months of Cardmembership5 . Offer subject to change at any time. Plus they pay no annual fee for the first year.*

End of an era.

You have to choose an airline on the prg before you can do transaction. AF won't be waived, so you probably only want to do one pggm and cancel, instead of waiting to 2017.

Got it. Yeah I meant the first $100 x2 from my first PRG card which I got last year

Yes.

Wow. even though I got the $200 credit twice already on both Plats :P from Dec and Jan. So I can convert both Plat and MB Plat to PRGs and get $100x2. So total credits $200 x4 + $100x2 + $100x2 =$1,200 just from airline credits and no AF :o

Am I missing something?

Also, it is effective immediately so as soon as I end the chat I can do a PGGM?

I currently have the personal Plat and PRG open, among other cards. I want to cancel the Plat to avoid the AF. However, can I just downgrade it to the PRG and get the $100 credit then cancel it?
