Credit Cards And Finance / Re: Amex F/R Master Thread
« on: August 14, 2015, 05:05:41 AM »
Hoped I would only ever read and not post on this thread :( but here goes:

Got FR'ed 2 days ago, for very escalated spending velocity on new and old accounts (completely forgot that it can trigger an FR).
I recently opened 3 cards, had 2 previously. The 3 i opened actually have the points posted already.

I reported 115k income on my apps, which I can cover with my parents' income. Unfortunately, my personal income is offcially reported at somewhere around the 2k mark and I'm supposed to be making between 10-20k (didn't realise it was a full-blown FR and just threw out that number.)

I'm definitely gonna be closing down most of my cards. Should I be closing all? Transferring out points?

Thanks in advance!

Then again, you know just as well as I do that there's much more hock to this. Is there a thread that has it that I missed?

If you want the facts then just read the T&C's of each program you participate in. Just about all of them will say you can't sell the miles/points.

Thanks a bunch, you saved me a lot of time having to read through all the T&C's... but you said "just about all," not actually all?

+1 this thread is for personal views,  not legalities

I'd love to actually know the facts and legalities before passing my own judgement of ethics...

This is the ethical thread. It is not ethical to sell points/miles if the T&C's forbid it.

Big if in there, as that was part of my question. And that's a blanket statement. There are many other discussions here are about things "officially" against T&C's and yet people believe the ethics are still up to discussion.

Looked through a lot of this thread expecting for this to be discussed ad nauseum, can;t seem to find it, so I ask forgiveness for those that are bothered by the topic coming up again.

I would prefer the answer with just facts not personal views, and if you'd rather pm that would be great as well...
What are the legalities of selling points? Is it in the T&C of the contract I agreed to with each individual reward program and airline program? Are the banks/airlines makpid about not selling the miles? Are you allowed to book flights/hotels for other people without getting paid? Do you own your points/miles?

What are the mainstream heterim going around for selling points, if any?

Thank you so much in advance!

Will pay $50 for a successful booking of my itinerary

Round Trip
Non-stop preferred, but will stopover if necessary

Return dates: Between 10/12-10/14 (10/13 most preferable)

Alliance/Airline: Any. Enough points with all programs to cover the tickets.

Thank you very much in advance.

And they don't even have a good heter to sell miles...

IME yes.
Does it first go through as cash advance pending and then post as a purchase?

I got mine removed and I didn't get the 140k. I called up to expedite it and they assured me it will be there in a days time and it's still not there.

Was this a recent match? If so, what did you write- they denied me a few weeks ago because the 140k offer had expired too long ago.

Anyone here got matched to the 140k and didn't have the 1-4 Ritz rooms removed?
Please PM me.

Better question is has anyone gotten it matched recently at all?

Credit Cards And Finance / Re: My next app-o-rama...

I see, so, if I can keep track- then there doesn't seem to be a reason to make myself crazy with so many apps, browsers, new cards etc.. at 1 time? the only thing would be to do all the apps for 1 bank on 1 day so there is 1 pull?

In fact, I've found it can negatively affect you- if you apply one at a time, you can get each approved before moving on to the next, and if you don't get approved after multiple HUCAs you can stop right then. If you do it all at one time and you get multiple denials, you'll have extra apps with that bank (granted, it's still one pull, but banks also care about recent apps and not just hard inquiries) that you could have avoided.

you do have to tell the truth. of course, otherwise, it is lying. so to spend $200 on duty free and say it was for an upgrade.... don't see the legality in that. sounds like stealing

Officially the credits are for "incidentals." By your standards even though Amex credits go through automatically, it's just as illegal and unhalachic to buy those.

One way/Round trip: One way
Non-stop/Maximum stops/Any: Any, though time is a bit of a factor
From: TLV
To: NY/Newark
Departure dates: 09/23 at night or 09/24
Class: Coach would be best
Seats: 2

9/23 is Yom Kippur so earliest flight could be 11ish, and get to America 9/25 early morning the latest
Found a ton of availability from UK with BA for 9/24 England but no availability to get there.

Thanks in advance! If necessary, I'm offering a monetary incentive if I can book a good non-stop flight.
