Credit Cards / Re: Amex Offers Discussion Thread

Amex offers have really gone down the tubes recently.  Haven't seen anything of value in months!

Well, the Chevron offer is worth $25, the Lowes offer is worth $100, Staples offer is worth $50. That's pretty good. Did you get any of those?  But I'd love one of those SamClub offers worth $250 again!!!

Also, the Boxed offer might be worth $100, but I don't see how to monetize it.

I just checked a few accounts and it seems as if Amex has gone a long way towards "unifying" the offer lists to the same person (either different cards in one login, or different logins). Obviously they still prevent Hilton offers on SPG cards, and vice versa, but it seems to me that the offer lists are almost identical nowadays. I didn't do a scientific study, but I recall a few weeks ago sometimes seeing one account with 40-50 offers and another with 80+ offers, and now they all seem to have roughly the same number of offers (and likely the same offers).

What really got me to notice this is going through ALL my accounts searching for the new Sams Club offer (and not finding it on a single card!)

Well, either you or Amex will ...  ;)

It's a very nice printer, but the color toner cartridges appear to be VERY expensive!

I just did some experiments and it seems like SOME multiple tab offers are dead. Same for multiple browser. Same for multiple computer.

For example, the 5 off 25 Staples offer (and the ritz shops offer), once you click it in an account (or a person, probably based on SS#, but even happens in people without an SS#), it will show -

"Sorry about that!
The offer you selected is currently unavailable.
Please try again."

- if you try in any other tab. That means that the "SAVE OFFER" buttons are now "live" and go back to their server to check eligibility in a live manner. If you refresh, it is gone.

BUT, some offers (for example the one, just used for a test case) still do work, so they must have added a selectable method of checking.

Looks like the days of multiple offers per person/account are either gone or much more difficult. This changes the whole calculus of determining which Amex cards are worth keeping!

Also, it appears that if their database is still updating one of your accounts, it will show -

"Sorry about that!
It doesn't happen often, but offers are currently unavailable. Please try again later."

- for ALL offers when you click on the offers tab in the old interface.

amex still makes merchandise fees... maybe not enough to offset what they give in amex offer.. but sometimes merchants subsidize amex offer.

Sometimes?!? I would guess that most of the time the merchant subsidizes it by a substantial amount. I know firsthand of one case in which the merchant kicks in half and amex kicks in the other half. Merchant said that it is worth it because customer acquisition costs using other sources come to about the same amount of money, so they don't really care because it's a wash ... and it gains some extra customers.

No SC credits yet and the offer disappeared from my saved offers...
SC Amex offers always seem like a mess. Well, except for 2 years ago, $250 off $1250, which worked perfectly on all cards that had it. But the recent 15 off 30 offers have been a mess.

Same. Just a PSA It seems the offer is in store only, not online.
Yes, it says right at the top of the offer terms - "Valid in-store only."

Do they sell GC at the store? If yes, then effectively it can be used online with one additional step.

Banana Republic. $20 off $100, expires 3/31/18. Seems like it appeared on all personal cards and on no business cards. Anyone else see the same?

Shoprite offer expires tomorrow.
Is there any way to use it with no Shoprite stores in the area? (cuz I have it on at least 5 cards!)

Has anyone discovered a new free shipping code for Hilton gift cards? (for the $10 off $50 amex offer) I've searched everywhere and can't find one. I also tried ordering and they are charging the $1.95 fee per card now. And "CYBERHILT" doesn't work anymore, expired on 12/31/17.

Did anyone get the $15 credit for the $30 SC offer yet?
Nope, not yet. Only used it on a few cards so far.

Anyone get the Amex email when using the SC 15/30 offer?
Nope. Kind of annoying. Especially because SC takes a long time to send conformation emails and sometimes even longer to ship stuff.
