The deal referenced here:

PayPal transfers no longer work for the direct deposit requirement. Chase must have caught on. Too bad!
Anyone get them to work recently for this promo?
I got it once, but not again.
Incoming ACH worked fine for me just now.

That's just to stop people from getting Starpoints for buying Travelers Cheques.

So how much did it cost you total? Why cant someone sign up and then cancel....now you get free access to the lounges and if you only had the card 1 month...you lose only 37.50?
Actually if you cancel with a month of the annual fee appearing on the statement they should refund the entire annual fee.

According to the posts above that you linked to it's been a while since I've posted a BRG hotel...guess I've been slacking off.
BRG's are great, nice roundup there E.

I'm going to reserve judgment until I see the full details of the card...do you have a link for this chase freedom plus card?

There's no risk, the worst that could happen is they deny you entry because it's closed.
They definitely won't charge you for entry.

I already have a Personal and a Business card. i can have more than one at a time?
Officially no, but it can slip through the cracks on occasion.
Or you can have a SO to open an account for you to use...

Dan, is it worth earning thousands of Starwood points monthly even though it means using most of the credit limit on the cards, or rather keep below the 50% mark at the cost of not earning ALOT of those points?
basically what am asking is how big of an effect does it have on my credit?
I would try opening an additional Starwood card to do the spending.

Gosh that's quite embarrassing, I don't know why i thought that... Anyway if I remember correctly I asked specifically about starpoints and the answer was no...
Lol, no sweat.

Anyway I never trust ill-informed reps.  The proof is in the pudding...has anyone here ordered an AMEX GC on their Starwood card?

Why after 30 days?
AMEX won't let you have 2 of the same cards, you have to wait 30 days after you cancel to reapply.

Is that 50% of each individual card or more than 50% of your total credit limit for all your amex cards?
Each individual card.

Wow I started this post over a year ago but I guess it's never too late... The question was weather you get points for buying the actual card, I ended up calling AMEX and they said I wouldn't get any points....
Was December 03, 2008 over a year ago already? Wow!

At any rate, while it's unlikely that you would earn AMEX MR points, I would assume that you would get Starpoints for buying GC's.
