On The Road / Re: Jerusalem hotel deals?

Such proves makes flights seem cheap

I really didn't look into hotels before i booked the plane tickets. this was a silly decision. i didnt think it would be as expensive... I am still price shopping and a family member in the business is supposed to get back to me with some prices next week so if there is a deal i can share, i definately will... in the meantime, if anyone has prices that can beat the rates shown in the prior post, please share!

Here is the breakdown of my research for pricing of 3 popular (mehadrin) hotels. I have not booked yet.
The below rates were for a stay of 9/24 to 10/10 and includes the pricing of hotel + yom tov meals (10 meals for keeping 2 days YT and does not include shabbos chol hamoed meals).
All pricing is for 2 adults/2 children (baby is free). 2 rooms.
I am sharing for 2 purposes.
1) If someone else is in my situation looking for details on mehadrin hotels for Sukkos.
2) If someone out there knows of a better option or price.

Optimally, it would be great to stay walking distance to the kotel, but not for thousands more...

see my attached image with the rates.
thanks

Destination Guides And Trip Planning / Re: Israel Hotels Master Thread

Has anyone ever stayed at City Center Jerusalem? http://www.citycentervacation.com/

Seems like they are around for only about a year and are located right on King George just steps from Ben Yehuda.

Prices are much better than most jerusalem hotels and it has 17 reviews on trip advisor, all good.

Thoughts?

Does anyone know anything about this city centre hotel?
thanks

I dont see an israel hotel master thread...
but those rates (leonardo) certainly arent for sukkos. ramada sounds right. I am quoted 300 for 2 rooms.

Starwood would be awesome.
Need 9/24 - 10/10 for yom tov, need a place with yom tov meals.
Preferably walking distance to kosel.
we have an 8 yo, 5yo, & 12 month old. (2 rooms or 1 laarge room)
Thanks!

Thx Dan, your reply makes me feel better about spending a small fortune.
Now i gotta figure our where to stay (walking distance to kosel would be nice)

Thanks a lot for the feedback I could have saved a lot of money by going with this airline but based on some of the reviews I decided to book a direct flight on elal even though it cost me a pretty penny. Also this itinerary had me on a 9 hour layover in moscow which would have been a nightmare with the baby

orbitz not giving me the same. here is my search result: http://www.webpagescreenshot.info/img/789999-8102012105248PM

If I can pull off a miracle and get decently priced tickets I would love to go to israel for sukkos with the family (from LAX). I searched on Expedia and there are tickets for under 1100, but using Transaero, via Moscow (9/23-10/10).
Not sure if I should go for it considering the review mentioned above...

Destination Guides And Trip Planning / White water rafting - rapids
« on: May 01, 2012, 12:45:15 PM »
Can someone recommend the best place in the US to go white water rafting / rapids (May 13 - May16)

not killer rapids but something "adventurous" and not subtle.

past experience was: "The Green River" in Whistler BC http://www.wedgerafting.com/the-green-river

Thanks!
