COVID-19 Discussion Board / Re: Amazon response to Covid-19

That doesnt make sense to me. What does 2-day shipping mean to me if it ships in a week? What do i care what form of shipping they paid for?  Point is from order date.
lol. im not sticking up for amazon, but it has been this way, way before covid19

Start with youtube.  Understand the science behind smoking, temperatures, the effect on meat collagen etc.  And this will help you make decisions down the line.

It's a fun learning process.   Good luck!
any other options besides youtube? i prefer not using it

NJ: My status says "pending" but I received a notice in the mail to certify my weekly benefits. When certifying online it's giving me an error. Anyone experienced this problem?
u wont be able to certify until it goes to filed

COVID-19 Discussion Board / Re: Areivim USA - Coronavirus

It is YOU who are missing MY point.

Areivim offers no promises or guarantees (please correct me if I'm wrong about this, by showing me the contract or wording on their website that indicates the contrary). They are a charity with very good intentions. They cannot promise or guarantee that those intentions will actually be carried out.
once again, i am NOT saying this is similar to LI. and understandably there are no guarantees, but as long as the company is running and payouts are happening smoothly, you WILL get a payout if you drop dead. obviously if the program slowly starts sinking due to being overwhelmed, or because of the pandemic, then the program will go under and zehu. The point of my entire post was just to explain how the fact that they were around for 10 years already, and paid every claim so far, was in itself a good thing. once again I am not campaigning for the long term durability of this program, just explaining how up until it was a good program. every person who paid every month until now did so knowing that if they would have dropped dead THAT month, then they would have gotten paid. my only comparison to term LI was basically trying to say that each month is its own TERM LI... you pay your $28 premium and u get a payout if u drop dead in that month! anyone who was paying their "premiums" for the future in case they drop dead in a year is foolish. so back to your original question: were they misled? no. because anyone thinking that theyre paying now for their possible FUTURE claim isnt being realistic, because there is no guarantee

Life insurance is a guaranteed (and regulated) contract. As long as it's in force, you received value.

With Areivim, the value you receive is the value of giving tzedaka. Nothing more, nothing less. If it goes belly up, you still gave tzedaka. As far as your family getting a monetary benefit if a member dies,  that isn't promised anywhere!
Once again you missed my point. Leaving aside this pandemic, as long as the organization is running, you will get a collection if u drop dead. Obviously its not guaranteed for 10 years. But as long as the organization is running you will get a collection. Comparison– term LI, as long as youre insured, you will get a payout. The proper comparison would be organization shuts down = your term policy expires. Im not saying this is LI, just pointing out that the organization was a success for the years it has been running, and as @YitzyS said, even if it shuts down today it was worth it while it was running

It's not life insurance. Not whole life, not term, not partial, not a supplement. You're not doing your family any favors by expecting anything to get paid to them from this organization.
sorry i wasnt clear enough. i wasnt saying it is LI, i was just saying that it is similar to term LI in that if you dont need the payout (BH), then its not called money wasted because you didnt get any return on your investment

That.

10 years of success is enough to justify the organization. If it should Ch"v go belly up tomorrow, it was still all worth it.
+1 i think of this as no different than term life insurance, in the sense that if it goes belly up today, i paid in to be covered until now.

Why don’t we poll the 14k members who paid in $100s (thousands?) of dollars and ask if they feel mislead
if people were paying into this, relying on getting paid out leachar meah vesrim, the yes they were misled, and they were foolish

nj. finally went from pending to filed after 4 weeks. filed on april 5th.
online i get this now:
Claim Status: Filed
Date of Claim: 04/05/2020
Weekly Benefit Rate: $xxx
Remaining Balance: $xxx
Next Payable Week: 05/02/2020
Last Week Paid: 04/25/2020
Last Paid Amount: $xxx

what is the process now? i didn't get any money yet, and how do i get my money for the last 4 weeks.
why does it say last week paid was 4/25 when i didnt get anything yet?
FTR i didnt receive any emails yet or physical mail

didnt certify anything yet, but got a DD for $1800 today. assuming thats for the last 3 weeks. i guess theyre not backdating automatically? because i filed on 4/5 but was laid off 3/16

You'll need to certify for all the weeks in between. Otherwise they don't know what your status was for those weeks and if you're eligible for payment.
thank you

How would you get paid before certifying benefits?
fwiu certification is a weekly thing so they can ensure you are still unemployed. that shouldnt stop me from getting $ for the time when i applied.
