i tried. they told me they dont have any info until 1-2 days before the flight. im supposed to be flying with the whole family on motzoei shabbos, and cant afford not to know until a couple of hours before...
just got this off aeroflots website:

Aeroflot Has Carried 94.8% Of Transaero Passengers; Transaero To Cease Operations On 26 October
25 October 2015, Moscow. — JSC Transaero will stop operations at midnight tonight (25/26 October), following the decision by the Russian aviation regulator to annul its operator’s licence effective 26 October.
Transaero passengers will be carried on flights operated by Aeroflot Group and where necessary other airlines. Aeroflot Group has the necessary operational capabilities to ensure uninterrupted carriage for Transaero passengers. Of the 1.93 mln Transaero tickets sold for flights before 15 December 2015, 1.83 mln passengers — or 94.8% of the total — have already been flown under Aeroflot’s operational management.
By 15 December, 100,241 passengers remain with reservations on Transaero flights. Additional information for these passengers can be found on the homepage of Transaero’s website, where there is an updated version of the online flight status checker: http://info-services.transaero.ru/status. Transaero customers can check their flight status (within the daily flight plan) without having to call the Transaero call-centre and see details of any new reservation in the event of their original flight being cancelled. To do this, passengers need to enter their surname and first name on Latin letters as per their ticket, and the flight number (without the UN prefix) and date. Information regarding new reservations is available via the online service after the Transaero call centre reassigns the new ticket for each passenger.

hi,
interested in hearing experiences for those who booked with transaero for flights before dec 15, what actually happened.
im booked tlv-jfk-tlv in november, and they keep on telling me that meanwhile its still scheduled. i check everyday the list of flights canceled, and the tlv-vko vko-jfk are always on the list.
will aeroflot actually cover them? will the flight times be changed? etc.
post your experiences!
actually, aeroflot added 2 flights a day between moscow-tel aviv to cover for transaero. I don`t know how they handle the moscow-jfk part, but as of today, transaero no longer has a license for flying.

Up In The Air / Re: TLV-JFK for $572.76 on Air France!
« on: October 19, 2015, 02:58:31 AM »
Sample dates:
TLV-CDG-JFK - November 9
JFK-CDG-TLV - November 18

This is a great price, especially considering that (1) it's a "normal" airline (i.e. not Ukrainian Airlines or something), and (2) this is for trips originating in TLV - and poor little TLV never seems to get as many sale fares as NYC does. :P

Note that this price is also valid for itineraries that include CDG<->NYC codeshare flights that are operated by Delta (with an AF flight number), if you prefer to fly on a Delta plane for the long-haul segment(s).

Also, Delta Silver status (which is not very hard to get, even without flying - via the Amex Delta Platinum and Reserve cards, or it can be given to you as a gift by an existing Delta Platinum member) gets you a FREE extra bag (just for the elite member) when flying Air France, and a FREE extra bag for you AND YOUR COMPANIONS AS WELL when flying Delta. Contrast that to the Star Alliance, where only Gold and up gets any sort of free baggage benefit... :D
there are flights on swiss/united for 627$ for october-november

+1.

P.s. When booking EZ Jet there can be a nice couple of $ difference depending on what currency you pay with. Just select the cheapest currency price and pay with a card that doesn't have a Forex fee.
when paying for extra bags on AF the american website charges 80 USD and the Canadian 80 CAD. you can always change your country on the top of the page to find the cheapest option

Up In The Air / Re: Delayed Flight
« on: October 18, 2015, 12:19:23 PM »
My EWR to HNL was just delayed. Same question as Mc. What do I do?
I  once came late due to a delay, and was told that check in times are according to original departure time, and therfore missed my flight. I sent an enquiry to the DOT and they replied that the airline was right, and if the delay is less then 3 hours, you still have to come according to the original time
