This might have been asked before but couldn't find it. Can I book a reservation with my spg number using someone elses spg points? They want to benefit from my gold status and I need the stays to earn Plat.

thats what they told me too. But it's not true. You get it for the rest of the year and the following year. I'm assuming it's the same for gold but I don't know first hand. As the post above said for gold just get an Amex plat and you will instantly have gold.

About the elite expiration, we'd like to inform you that the Elite Status Challenge entitles you to one full year of elite status, from one renewal period to the next (i.e. the end of February one year to the end of February the next year) and only carries over if you are upgraded on or after March 1st (whereas earning status naturally* gives elite status for the remainder of the current year, carries over for the entirety of the following year, and expires at the end of February in the third year). Therefore if a member is upgraded via the challenge on or before February 28th, 2017 they retain status until February 28th, 2018, the following year. If they are upgraded on or after March 1st, 2017 they retain status for the remainder of the year, all of 2018, up until February 29th, 2019.

YMMV. Heard of successful suite upgrades as close as a month ago

I stayed in Sheraton ET this past weekend. There were many groups staying there and many of the facilities were out of order including the pool. Has anyone received SPG points for issues at Eaton town? The staff is not so easy going.

If I get Gold from the Plat card, can I upgrade to Plat or do I need to still do the 25 stay or Plat challenge ?

Anyone with experience at the Westin Newport in Jersey city, regarding using a SNA and getting Plat benefits without the platinum member actually being there?

(Obviously his name would be on the ressy, and would tell them he's coming later, but I understand some properties started giving a hard time this, specifically W Hoboken, and Sheraton Eatontown)

Sherraton Eatontown won't give Plat Bennys if Plat member doesn't come with ID?

How about proof of AAA membership? and do they verify that its active?

It is hit or miss. Usually they don't ask to see AAA they care more about ID matching name on res.

you need 18 paid nights in 3 months and you keep the platinum for the remainder of the year and the entire next year

When I spoke to the rep on the phone she said it only lasts for 12 months from when you get it. Are you sure it is for both years ? Is it the same for gold, the year you get it and the following year?

gold anyways is free with a plat card

Is it worth fighting for Platinum or is it pretty much the same as gold?

I am considering doing the platinum challenge. I spoke to a rep that seemed a bit confused so I just wanted to confirm. You can only do a platinum or gold challenge once every 5 years. The free 2 stay 5 nights don't count towards the challenge,  they all have to be paid nights, and it only lasts for 12 months regardless of whether you start the challenge in January or April. Based on this it seems pointless to ever do a gold challenge because you only need to get 10 stays and they give you two free every calendar year.

Yes, but only at Loveland.

I'm game. The rest of the group only wants to hit Breckenridge, which unfortunately is the most expensive resort in CO.

What is reasonable?

I believe it will be difficult. Vail Resorts changed their pricing scheme to encourage people to buy Epic passes. I believe Epic pass sales have ended for the season. Maybe find someone who has a pass and use their SWAF (ski with a friend) tickets which are $128.

http://www.snow.com/epic-pass/pass-benefits/swaf.aspx?cmpid=PARRT00046#/Vail

Another option is if price is a consideration maybe consider Copper Mountain. Shell gas stations usually runs a bogo promotion this time of year if you buy ten gallons of gas.

Appreciate the info. In hind site I should have bought a season pass to Mountain creek and upgraded to a Max pass.

Even if you have an Epic pass they are restricted in Breckenridge over MLK...it's just not a time to get discounted rates in Breck.  I agree with Mountian Man, if you are staying there maybe get a pass for Copper or Keystone instead, for less.

Do the passes from Copper and Keystone transfer? I know some resorts give reciprocity.

Breckenridge lift passes; I have looked everywhere online and have had no luck. Where can I find reasonably priced lift passes for Martin Luther King weekend?

TIA
