General Discussion / Re: Optimum internet

I bought ARRIS SurfBoard SB6121 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem over 5 years ago. I used it for Time Warner and later brought it to another neighborhood and used it for Optimum.
Thanks, after spending a ridiculous amount of time on the phone with optimum, they recommend I get one of the TM series Arris modems...

I'm trying to use this modem, but for some reason Optimum is having a hard time finding it. I thought it might be defective so I replaced it, but still not working. Any ideas?

I forgot to mention that I would order directly from Optimum or Arris if I wanted phone service from them because they don't provide voice service if it's not directly from them or Arris. Otherwise you can order online from other vendors other brands which need to mention they are compatible with optimum. If I'm not mistaken its max DOCSIS 3.0 that works with Optimum.
Thanks,
Can anyone who's gotten one, recommend a particular model, I don't need voice.

I personally don't have cable anymore for a while now but should I get cable again I would buy the modem directly from them or Arris and not pay for years a $10 monthly fee.
Any particular modem recommended?

A word to the wise: never agree to more repairs than what you came for. Had this issue with Midas on the 9 and Mavis on 70.

I had this with the Ford dealership, honestly I'm not so sure my $179 for lifetime alignments is worth the headaches they give me everytime I go in there

I need someone who will have the patience to go over everything with me and address all my concerns
Motti is forsure the guy to go to then, though you should know that if it's a used car he'll (strongly) recommend against anything that's not a Toyota

Is Ayahuasca, the same thing being discussed here?
I was just speaking to someone who asked R Dovid Fienstien if it's Avoda Zara, which he said he's not familiar with it. However R Heinman was familiar with it and told him it's not..
The reasoning iiuc is that a root of a plant can't become Assur and also those who worship it are worshipping the spirit/snake behind it not the actual plant

General Discussion / Re: jersey care
« on: January 19, 2020, 10:16:07 AM »

Is Jersey cares income limit per month or annual? If I make more than the monthly limit one month but less the next month does that disqualify me?

I've heard many times that it's annualized, but if one month you realize that it's bringing you over then you need to report it..

I spoke to a friend who unfortunately had to deal with a lawyer for this and he was told that even if they let you keep it at the jersey care office that doesn’t legally allow you to keep it. Jersey care was not made for self employed where your income varies for month and has a lot of grey area where if you end up in front of a judge you may be liable even if they told you that you can stay on. I left jersey care for this reason even though technically I was eligible.

Even if you have in writing that it's ok?

If you "qualify" for Jersey Care, you can't even get from the market place, thats really crazy...

Is people ending up in front of a judge common place, and it just doesn't get splashed all over the place? When the major story happened not too long ago, iiuc they basically said don't live a lavish life etc and claim very little income, otherwise you should be ok, we're not coming to find every little discrepancy...

Tech Talk / Re: Wifi Extender for Optimum Wifi?

Either this

I got the https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MR90E3A  and it works!

Or the more complicated version, which is similar to what you were trying to do

No.
You need to install DD-WRT which can only be installed on a regular router. Once you install DD-WRT follow these instructions: https://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php/747884-How-to-use-an-Optimum-WiFi-hot-spot-with-multiple-computers

So only an extender that can access the login page?
Do you know of one that works?
Your connecting the extender to the optimum network,
When connected the login page will open on your device.

Most tp-link extenders will work

Trying to use a linksys extender to extend optimum wifi. I added the extenders mac address to an optimum account. It's not connecting to optimum when setting it up. There is an option to manually enter a static ip. Any ideas?
I don't believe anyone got it to work this way.

The last office Depot mistake via a marketplace was the Puff tissues a few weeks ago via Amazon, all the orders got canceled and not charged but most people got one box and some the full amount...
