Credit Cards / My complex managment now offers paying rent with credit card

Hi all,
I'm sure it has been discussed in the past but my apartment complex management are offering paying rent with CC.
Fees:
Visa -  $72
Mastercard+Discover card = 2.95%

Is there anyway to take advantage of this offer to earn with airline points by paying with CC or the fees are killing the deal?

I'm planning honeymoon in Italy (Turin\Milan...) and South of  France (Cannes,Nice...) in May.
And thinking to buy several hotel nights to lower my costs.
Will I be able to use those certs at the Intercontinental in Cannes?

Got overly excited and booked 2 trips. unfortunately I missed the free cancellation period and the cancellation fee is higher than the ticket price. any suggestions on what should I do in that case?
