Walk to ferry, walk along catwalks to Central Mid Escalators, take escalators to the top (Robinson Road), turn right and walk a few minutes. Total trip should be around 30-60 minutes depending on if you have to wait for the ferry, if the escalators are going up or down and how fast you walk.

Thanks so much! We are a bit concerned about getting lost, and also will be traveling back at night after dinner, so would prefer if it were possible to just take a taxi door to door. Is that possible? Google Maps indicates that it's a 15 - 45 minute drive depending on time of day.

What is the best way to travel from Kowloon (e.g., Sheraton Hotel) to the restaurant at the JCC? How long does the trip take?

Thank you for your responses. With the yarmulka I was thinking about potential antisemitism, which is apparently not a concern in China.

As for food, I read elsewhere that there are official restrictions on bringing on meat, fish and fruit, but I guess it's not true or not enforced.

Another follow-up question: What do you do about milk in China? I recently heard that there is imported milk (perhaps from Australia) that is either Cholov Yisroel or halachically acceptable to some as Cholov Stam as in the USA?

Planning first trip to China. Two interesting questions:

1. Is it safe to wear a yarlmulka or is a hat necessary/recommended?

2. What types of food, if any, can be brought in?

Thanks!

Yes. They have to order it from Dini's. The hotel was one of the nicest city hotels I've been in.
I am planning a trip to Beijing and was wondering if anyone can comment on the Nuo Hotel, apparently a 5 star with a 10 minute walk to Dini's/Chabad current location.

Thanks, Yehoshua!  I didn't reazlie TimeWarner now has free calls to Hong Kong so just got through- her english was horrible but seems the $150 for Shabbos remains- they wanted $75 for just the Friday night meal.  I was thinking KZ friday night and Chabad Shabbos day.  Anyone have any experience on Chabad of Kowloon?   Not too much info on them.  One scary post on flyertalk that says it was like a Purim Seudah!!

Latke: Please let us know how your dilemma resolved.

I am planning a trip to Hong Kong as well and booked the Sheraton in Kowloon. Wondering pros and cons of Shabbos meals at KZ vs. Chabad, as well as Shabbos davening.  Also, I read that Sheraton is "Shabbos friendly" but wonder how they accommodate. Do they accompany you to your room with a master key?
