What’s the jcc bbq like ? Party style or more restaurant style ? How much does it cost ?
You are seated at your assigned table. Looks like nice restaurant. The server will bring you drinks and some items, but for the most part you go to the buffet tables to get your food, and there is lots of it including sushi, steak and chicken, desserts; large, generous assortment of items, seemingly endless supply, and you eat at your own table, nothing like a typical wedding shmorg rushed grab fest. I seem to recall that it was about a total US $110 bill for the both of us.

if he's still there on Sunday he should go to the the JCC BBQ it's absolutely delicious!
Mul Hayam probably has a meatless menu this week preceding Tisha B'Av, and the JCC probably won't have a BBQ this Sunday.

+ 1 for locarno. absolutely beautiful and relaxing.

we stayed in Milan (for purposes of staying in PH Milan and food) and did day trips - one day to como, one day to stresa (islands there) and one day to locarno.
I highly recommend getting the lonely planet italian lakes book for ideas

We are planning a similar trip. How did you travel from Milan for day trips, via train or car rental, and how was it? Is one day enough for Lake Como, seems like there are several paces to visit?

Thank you! Defiance sounds good. Anyone ever seen it?
Yes, it was good.

I just saw the new Project Witness film, Rosja. Very moving.

We will have one weekday night to go out to a nice dinner in Toronto. Staying downtown at the Adelaide Hotel (SPG, soon to be St. Regis). Which is better, and why: Marron or Windsor Arms?

Here is something else to think about: When Chazal said that boarding earlier in the week is ok, weren’t they speaking of non-stop trips continuing on through into Shabbos? Would that exception apply if there were stops for exit and re boarding on Thursday or Friday?

54
There are so many things that no longer apply today that we still do anyway.

Why is this one different?
In this case, a Talmudic era boat would still be prohibited nowadays, but our modern cruise ships are entirely different entities never imagined or ruled upon by Chazal back in the day.

55
Correct. Unless you’re concerned that you may have to do melacha on Shabbos fixing the boat, or the ship turbulence in a storm will ruin your oneg Shabbos.
