Tech Talk / Re: Drones Master Thread

What are the key differences between the Mavic Pro and the Mavic Air? I'm seeing a solid price difference, and a slightly shorter flight time with the Air, but am having trouble finding a solid side by side of the specs. I don't need pro grade pics and vids, just want high quality which it seems I'll be getting regardless. TIA
I have the pro but if you don’t care much about pro grade pics then I’d probably get the Mavic Air fly more package. Considering getting it as well! They have some cool flight video features that the Mavic pro doesn’t and  it seems to be much more portable then the pro.

For how long do people go to Thailand? Is 5 days enough? Or save when you have 10 available?
I did it in 7 days and was happy with the time although I definitely would have been able to see more with an additional 2-3 days. It really all depends on where you want to go in Thailand. If your only interested in seeing Koh Samui and Chiang Mai then 5 days could be enough. But, if you want to see Koh Samui, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Krabi, Bangkok... then obviously you’d need more time.
In 7 days I was able to fit Koh Samui, Bangkok, Phi Phi islands, and Chiang Mai. Although, some might argue that I did not truly experienced each city as I rushed through some of them.

Up In The Air / Re: AA Basic Economy

Took the risk of booking Basic Economy with 3 bags. My wife and I both got to check in one with AA CC and for the last one we were meant to pay at the gate.
Seems to be they can only tell your flying basic economy when boarding if it says boarding group 9 on the boarding pass. Since the CC gets you to group 5 you should be able to get a carry on for free! Just worked a couple minutes ago for us.

1 Night at the Conrad BOB paying $1,300 with BMG cert

Booked 5 nights at SR BOB a while ago for 420k SPG hoping that a standard room will open up for me to switch too but nothing has so I think I am just going to go through with spending all these SPG points... So 5 nights at SR and 1 night at Conrad BOB.

Held PPT-LAX in Y for 40k AA X2 on TN

Going with 2 small kids staying at the banyan tree for 3 nights should I consider switching one night to a large resort with pools water slides etc? If so which one is worth trying for one night? (Banayan tree seems to only have one pool and not too exciting for kids, so made me think...) thank you

whats the deal with Zika in the Maldives? according to CDC there is zika but ive been told its not so true. does anyone know what the real situation is? TIA
Doubt anyone will know the “real situation” but each hotel is its own island and some hotels put out mosquito repellant every morning/night. Whilst I was there I didn’t see one mosquito but you could also bring repellant bands and deet hope for the best.

Does Hyatt Ziva do anything for Kosher directly?

Not directly. They can order you food, at your expense, from Red Heifer and that’s about it.

Any recent experiences regarding bringing your own food at the St Regis?
Are they accommodating regarding warming up food?

Any other tips or nuggets?

They were very accommodating when I was there in late December and can’t imagine them suddenly stopping servicing our “dietary restrictions”. Ask for Nasyb as your butler

Why not post publicly?
Already added a lot to the SA master thread Wiki and hopefully will add more once I get home from the trip and organize all the information for the TR.

In the meantime I would gladly help anyone planning a trip to the list of places I’ve been too (that can be seen on my TR’s plus the two I have yet to write for Cancun/Tulum and the current trip South Africa, Zambia, Botswana, Zambia, Seychelles, and Israel) as I tend to do extensive research of any place I visit or plan to visit.

Heading to SA iyh in July/Aug

As of now will be spending first Shabbos in JNB
and second Shabbos in Capetown

Does it make sense to stay for an additional Shabbos in Capetown? And then spend the day Monday in IST 13hr stopover on way back

Any other suggestions where to stop on way back, for Shabbos?

Heading to TLV.

PM me. Literally just did this itinerary but more and have a lot of helpful information to share!

tell me more
I've been searching mainly *A
Would HUCA work to get UA to open parnter availability?
If I can get a flight with sky team from EWR/JFK
I'd buy the points.
since it's a partner UA (claims) they couldn't open space.
I did however read online that SAA releases awards seats 3 weeks before flight, can always change till the day of.
42.5 wasn't available either price was 95k for Eco

How far are you booking out from? I am almost done with my SA trip but I booked everything like a week and a half out. It was weird availability with SAA for J some days it showed availability multiple times a week for the next couple weeks. Then the next day it would all go away but like 1 flight. But then it would come back a couple days later again... it wasn’t phantom either because I ended up booking and flying on it even though EF said it wasn’t available.

This is for JFK-JNB assuming we are still talking about that route...

IC TLV is a great option if you have your own free night or points.

Currently staying there. Didn’t get an upgrade because apparently they were at near full occupancy. No free breakfast either but location is good and rooms are nice!

Anyone have experience using UR for WAJ and still getting diamond benefits?
