sitting poolside at the hyatt ziva cancun eating a grilled cheese, while the next guy is getting fresh made fajitas pool side is not too much fun :D
At least your stay is free while he is likely overpaying for his stay and his Fajita ;)

SRM didn't offer kosher meals. Even if they did I probably wouldn't do that as I doubt they would be any good.

Dunno why BYOF is a big deal. Jews are oddly hung up on going to places that will has or will cater Kosher food.
Seems he booked at the Conrad not the SR

The new thing now is Kosher Private Chef
In terms of cost efficiency preparing meals yourself or having a place like POM is cheaper then them.

booked for the conrad for 5 nights at the end of may!!
now comes the hard part. flights+food.
i know there is info about kosher food in the wiki, but rather than read through 250+ pages, can anyone tell me what is my best option for good kosher food including shabbos?
thanks alot everyone, will be here often as i try making this a reality:))

Pomegranate/ your local market that sells packaged food or Shabbat meals... or make, pack, and freeze your own meals for your trip. I did a mixture of both.

That is a lot of SPG for 5 nights

Earn and burn. No point in holding the points in my account... Although, I guess I could have used it for several trips around the world. But, then again already replenished my stash nearly two times over and glad I ended up going through with it and  staying there.

FYI the conrad is very strict in not allowing drones. Somehow they found out i had one (maybe saw in my luggage?) and warned me not to use it.

As for SR although they make it known that drones are not allowed. I was able to fly it out a couple times no problem. One of the employees even flew out their drone to take photos of one of the events.

Problem with the Conrad is that snorkeling off your villa is virtually non existent. Pretty much no underwater life save for the one or two fish that got lost. House reef is on the other island.

But on the flip side, it means you have total privacy

Just left the Maldives and was truly amazing to be able to jump off the villa and snorkel around. Everything there was absolutely stunning and although I have not been to any other resorts in the Maldives I donít regret spending 234k SPG points at all on this place. Was initially worried that 5 nights would be too much but definitely could have stayed there for longer and not been bored. Massive TR will be coming in the next couple weeks.

You should cancel your stay at the SR and move over to the Conrad

Lol contemplated it several times since I booked several months ago. Would rather be at the st Regis. Will do Hilton in Bora Bora soon!

That's a great value for hilton points, you're definitely better off using the points.

Was going to suggest the same

you should be able to pay $10 a day and use your phone as if you are in the states
Looked into it with AT&T but most of the places I am visiting don't fall under the $10 deal :(.

Local SIM card purchased at the airport will provide me with good cell service at the SR Maldives? Or what other feasible options does someone with At&t and an iPhone have for cell service when traveling?

thabnks for that. ill look into it. are the cash upgrades always avail. as long as the room is avail? or is it subject to award availabilty...
Not sure. Perhaps someone more informed can help. But, it might be sunniest to each hotels policies/ availability. Check FT(flyer talk) as each resort should have its own thread with some good info just in the wiki.
