You should cancel your stay at the SR and move over to the Conrad

Lol contemplated it several times since I booked several months ago. Would rather be at the st Regis. Will do Hilton in Bora Bora soon!

That's a great value for hilton points, you're definitely better off using the points.

Was going to suggest the same

you should be able to pay $10 a day and use your phone as if you are in the states
Looked into it with AT&T but most of the places I am visiting don't fall under the $10 deal :(.

You sure you need cell service? There's decent WiFi coverage.

Yeah will need to accept work calls throughout my trip :/

Local SIM card purchased at the airport will provide me with good cell service at the SR Maldives? Or what other feasible options does someone with At&t and an iPhone have for cell service when traveling?

thabnks for that. ill look into it. are the cash upgrades always avail. as long as the room is avail? or is it subject to award availabilty...
Not sure. Perhaps someone more informed can help. But, it might be sunniest to each hotels policies/ availability. Check FT(flyer talk) as each resort should have its own thread with some good info just in the wiki.

yes. but it seems like its cheaper to book a lower standard room and then pay $ to upgrade?
knowing that, what would you suggest?
Youíll have to evaluate the cash upgrades vs points for each property. I try to use points as much as I can before I use cash. Unless, of course, itís just ridiculous to do otherwise. Should also consider buying discount GCís for your property to pay for your upgrade.

im planning a trip to the maldives in june, would love to about  your experience with hotels. i would like to stay at a villa with a pool, dont care for the owb much, which hotel has the best option for points/nights+upgrades? the conrad seems beautiful although i think the st regis is much nicer.
planning on flying from tlv-ist-mle in J still looking for the best availability. united only has practical flights on the outbound. inbound comes up as 3 stopovers... dont think i can hack that:)
thanks guys!

Point balances? Assuming you have enough for St Regis, Conrad, Hyatt....?

Actually not. What he needs is either a converter or a transformer depending if it's electric/electronic and what it is.
Drone(Mavic), Laptop, Burner, phone... what else do people usually plug in when traveling? No one else has any adapter/converter/transformer or burner they can recommend?!

326
I believe you'd call that an adapter.
Assumed I was missing something. Thank you for pointing it out.
 Any adapter or burner recommendations?

327
hotels usually provide converters
Just to clarify... By converter I donít mean international outlet converter. I mean watt converter so as to avoid short circuiting the burner and perhaps my drone and such...

328
How do I go about finding a proper converter for the single burner if I will be in several places throughout Middle East and SE Asia?

Also is this the burner that was recommended for roughly $10?

OK just finished reading all 266 pages of this thread along with several trip reports and still can't decide between Phuket or Koh Samui (and maybe even Krabi) for my beach destination in Thailand! Seems that most people on this thread recommend Koh Samui but I would also like to visit the phi phi islands for a day trip.

Will be in Thailand from Monday 1/1/18- Sunday 1/7/18.

CKS is only available for 95k points a night 1/1-1/3. I booked it for 1/1-1/3 just incase it gets full as the other dates are not available.

Will be in Bali beforehand so I will either be flying in Sunday night (12/31) or early Monday.

Option 1)  on 1/1 or 12/31 arrive in HKT and go straight to the phi phi island day tours (is there anything else to do in HKT?). So as not to waste points staying at CKS just for the night I would stay in HKT and then fly to CKS the next morning. Be at the resort all day Tuesday and do late checkout Wednesday fly out that night to BKK for a night. Then Chiang Mai for shabbat (already booked at the LE CNX)

Option 2) Arrive USM on 1/1 leave late on 1/3 to Phuket or Krabi for the night and on 1/4 do the phi phi island tour stay the night and go to CNX for shabbat. This would cut out Bangkok which from reading through the thread seems perfectly fine and in fact advised but I feel as though its a waste to go to Thailand and not spend at least half a day or some time in Bangkok city.

Any other advice?

BUMP

Also any thoughts as to whether Krabi is preferred over Phuket as Krabi also has Phi Phi Island tours?

I dont think you get to choose a butler
I have been communicating with them through email I don't think it would be an issue to request a specific butler upon availability.

Also DP if anyone was interested... Easily got the mandatory Christmas eve dinner waived through email.
