Credit Cards / End of an era: no more Amex mailers.
« on: April 12, 2018, 01:38:34 PM »
A few weeks back when the last batch of paper mailers expired some reports on Reddit claimed the program was over. I've been skeptical of it this whole time, mainly because I didn't want to believe it. Well today that RSVP phone department is down, I think the program is officially dead. While the email offer are still around.
It was nice that they ended it with a bang with all those NL mailers. But now we are officially at the end of an era.

Credit Cards / Chase Aer Lingus Credit Card this Spring?
« on: March 15, 2018, 06:05:57 PM »
According to Business Wire Chase plans to open yet another avios card this spring.
As per DOC the card will have the following benefits:
Card earns at the following rates:

3 Avios per $1 spent on Iberia, Aer Lingus, British Airways, LEVEL and OpenSkies

1 Avios per $1 on all other purchases

Ticket for a companion when a ticket is purchased in economy class, after $30,000 spend in a calendar year
More Like BA then IB.

Priority boarding on flights to and from the U.S.

No foreign transaction fees

Auto rental collision damage waiver

Lost luggage reimbursement

Purchase protection

$95 annual fee

It seems Chase will be taking over more of the market with them covering three avios earning cards.
The best part of this is that like the ba and Iberia cards this card will likely be excluded from 5/24.

It is definitely great to to see more high-value cards coming out for those who don't have many options available

As of now there are no details on the sign up bonus, although I'd like to assume it will be another 75k.

Credit Cards / Chase Iberia card
« on: March 15, 2018, 01:30:27 PM »
Chase opened a new co-branded card(one up from the last they did) in partnership with Iberia.

Benefits include :
$95 annual fee, not waived the first year

Signup bonus: 50,000 Avios after $3,000 in spend within 3 months, plus 25,000 Avios after $10,000 in spend within the first year

$1,000 discount voucher each calendar year you spend $30,000

No foreign transaction fees

10% off Iberia flights when paying with the Iberia credit card

3x Avios on Iberia purchases, 1x everywhere else

Card is Visa Signature

The big question is will this follow Chase's other Avios card, the BA card which isn't subject to 5/24?
DPs from r/churning indicate early that it isn't subject to 5/24
If that is true, it is indeed very exciting.

Direct link to apply, to be replaced by Dan's when available:
ETA: Seems 5/24 DPs are getting stronger as many blogger now officially declare it "non 5/24"

Credit Cards / How to improve my credit history.
« on: March 11, 2018, 12:08:13 PM »
I'm looking to thicken my credit file, what I believe I need is a mix being that at this point all I have is multiple credit cards.
I was looking for some sort if installment loan to add. I was thinking PayPal credit as I keep getting offers when checking out online for 6 month credit with 0% APR.
Does anyone have experience with PayPal credit?
Will this PayPal credit do the job?
Does anyone have any better ideas how to add an installment loan to my file when I don't need one?

Credit Cards / Chase Reserve Banking??
« on: March 05, 2018, 11:18:50 PM »
As per DOC Chase may be considering an elite level banking with some interesting benefits. Included in the idea is a SUB, presumably UR.
I'm just waiting for them to waive 5/24 and I'm in.

UA flight 1165 from EWR took off early, a few hours ago at 8:30 PM bound for LAX. Around 9:00 they made an announcement over the PA that they will be returning because the smoke detectors went off. At around 9:30 they landed the plane Allentown (ABE), instead of EWR, after waiting some time, not allowed to leave the airport, they announced they are considering bussing them an hour and a half ride back to EWR, or maybe put them up in hotels overnight in ABE, then have a plane for them tomorrow. At around 11 PM they decided to bus them back to EWR, once there they will find hotels, and rebook flights throughout tomorrow. They are not adding a flight in for them tomorrow.

Noob ::)
The painful comment......

So now I ask, what makes someone a n00b?
Is it lack of general knowledge?
Or maybe lack of DDF knowledge?
Or is it length of time on DDF?
