General Discussion / Re: Dirshu world siyum hashas North America

For all you sound guys, they bought in engeniers for sound from IL the main production company was MC Productions (Micael Caplin) who is considered one of the best if not the best in the line in the jewish world, and AF productions did the logistics as they are more local.

I did attend both siyumim whilst the metlife event was nice and insporational the speeches were too long and too many considering the lengh of each one, as for the other aspects of the siyum, at metlife they seemed to make sure the high rollers and machers were happy and had what they wanted and the rest seemed slightly forgotten, and i think one can make the oppisite argument some are making about the english vs yiddish i was at metlife and there was at least half maybe a little less of the attendees that understand yiddish and they felt the event was mainly geared to one sect.

Now at Dirshu they did not provide the type of lavish food aguda gave to their high rollers but on every other aspect they well and truly delivered i'm not even going to  talk about the music because it was on a whole other level, the speeches were shorter (besides for one that went more than 10min over) and more in number but they were very good and to the point. only rabonim and R' Hoffshteter got kavod and no one else. There was food for everyone not just people who paid for expensive tickets, and last but not least i left inspired to make sure that when i finnish each daf to have a good understanding of it and not just listen to a shiur and go on my way without making sure i have the daf stored by me.

p.s. we really missed having R' Abish Brodt singing ;)

What if one was pre-approved and has a scheduled interview?  According to the Global Entry website, the interview is still scheduled.
Also- what if the interview if for someone younger than 16?
I can't seem to find any definitive answers online.
Thanks
if you can schedule an appointment that means you passed the check already so its not an issue

Do you have a NY"C" Driver license or ID?...
"Fox News is reporting that Department of Homeland Security is closing the Global Entry program and other Trusted Traveler Programs in NYC in response to NY declaring itself a sanctuary city with their “Green Light Law” and awarding driver’s licences without verifying immigration status."

DHS suspends Global Entry, Trusted Traveler Programs for New York residents in response to sanctuary law

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/dhs-global-entry-trusted-traveler-new-york-ice-sanctuary-law
Director of DHS just said on Tucker Carlson show that NY resident global entry applications and renewals are going to be denied because they can't trust the dmv anymore since they started giving out state issued ID to illegal immigrants, he explained that the dmv is one of the agencies they collect info from when doing the checks on applicants

This is bad news, now they'll be able to hike the toll even more because as it stands now, to hike it over $20 doesn't sound good to people and there would likely be some backlash to it, but now they can start hiking the toll again in both directions and no one will complain
