But according to Somekh, Arazi’s preventative ban does not take into account what Jewish-style artichokes mean for the local community. “This is not a war about artichokes,” he said. “It’s about preserving the identity and traditions of local Jews.”

Thoughts and critiques on a 1 week itin for first time in Kauai for a couple no kids:

Sunday: Land late afternoon, do Costco and Walmart shopping

Monday: secret falls morning, Helicopter afternoon

Tuesday: Waimea canyon (jeep is ideal 4WD Miloli Ridge Road)/Polihale State Park sunset/sunflower field

Wednesday: Awaawapuhi Trail/Nualolo Cliffs Trail/Nualolo Trail in Waimea, and other Waimea exploration

Thursday: general sightseeing around the island water falls, valley view, sugar tubes lazy river or zip line in afternoon

Friday: Snorkel Poipu Beach morning/get ready for Shabbos/Spa? Dinner in tidepools GHK.

Relax shabbos

Sunday: Fly Home early

kalalau trail is closed to I figure that part of the island isn't really necessary to visit. This is for 2 weeks from now.

Heli is typically better in the morning, unless Na Pali is your main draw.

Hasn't Miloli Ridge Road been closed to vehicles for a while? I seem to remember something to that effect.

The north side of the island is a must do even with the KT closed - Ke'e Beach, Tunnels, Hanelei Valley, Queens Bath if you're willing to risk life and limb, Kilauea Point... this list goes on and on.

ETA: obviously some of the places I listed were impacted last year, so check how they're doing first. But sunset at Ke'e is reason enough to head up, IMO.

I used Grand and Essex to cater my last trip. The food was phenomenal, the portions generous, and way cheaper than POM.

They did not officially do travel meals until now (I used their catering service, as it was something like 60 meals), but they are now soft-launching them:!/hb/m/000000/r/10980/he/New-Jersey/kosher-takeout/kosher-packages/frozen-meals-requires-4-days-to-process

Apparently now they have them for microwave only, and under the RCBC hechsher.

For my trip, they were able to pack the meals for the oven, as use the New Square hechsher (which certifies their catering, not the store). I am reaching out their deli manager to see if these options will be available.

After sending him feedback from here regarding microwave vs. oven, he has now added an oven option to all meals.

I have used him for other trips since my last post here, and my opinion stands: batter, cheaper, and bigger portions than POM. Highly recommended.!/hb/c/10706-0/c/10769-10706/r/10980/he/New-Jersey/kosher-takeout/kosher-packages//frozen-meals-requires-4-days-to-process

Microwave only.

I've had him make me oven versions when he catered one of my trips, but you probably need a very large quantity for that.

That being said I had the microwave ones on my last trip to Hawaii and it was amazing.

I sent him the feedback here, and he has now added an oven option:!/hb/c/10706-0/c/10769-10706/r/10980/he/New-Jersey/kosher-takeout/kosher-packages//frozen-meals-requires-4-days-to-process.

6 hours with a 7-year old girl in January. ORD or STL? Don't need food.

There was a discussion some time ago about travel souvenirs - who collects what, the merits of shot glasses vs. magnets, and all that. Anyone able to find it? I've had no luck.

To entice him, you can offer a trade for one of your own unfinished ones  ;)

Deal with the devil, huh?

I'll look through my pictures and see what I can do.

Awesome, thanks! Looking forward.

I'm heading to RAK in a few weeks. As an all-powerful god mod I hereby command you to finish this TR.

Pretty please?

FYI this is the pricing from All Kosher Maui.

Holy moly. I think that a trip to Antarctica is cheaper than eating this stuff for a few days.
