what does it mean that in California rental companies are not required to give you minimum liability insurance ?

what if you dont have any insurance and decline the company's liability insurance, are you covered ?

When flying aa as a executive platinum with a companion how does the upgrade work ?

you need to use 500 mile upgrade for the companion but they upgrade at you level.

Do 2 seat need to open at the same time ? will they give away 1 seat at a time to platinum and gold members ?
