Youve got me confused. Are you saying you think Bluebird will shut you down for doing this?

The other prepaids out there have shut people down for excessive billpay or ACH because a) they make no money off those transactions and b) it can look suspicious.

Maybe AMEX as a big company wanting to get this product out there will be more tolerant of a), unlike the smaller prepaid companies whose business is more sensitive to unprofitable customers.    Heck, Amazon still allows free CC payments after years of exploitation, whereas smaller payment services always put a stop to it quickly.  But I am being optimistic.  8)

Anyone know where I might be able to pick up Vanilla Visa Cards around the Cleveland area?

You really mean Vanilla Visas or Vanilla Reloads (nothing to do w/visa)?  I have never been able to find Vanilla reloads at CVS, although I do see plenty of Vanilla Visa gift cards and OneVanilla prepaids.  Walgreens and 7-11 I have better luck with Vanilla reloads.

What does the Credit Karma report card say is negative ?

Lets assume this is more than just variance in scoring models of those 2 services.  If I recall Credit Karma uses Transunion and Credit Sesame uses Experian.  So they are looking at different bureaus which can actually have different data (number of inquiries on each, differences in when account updates are reflected, etc.)  So in other words you may have some negative factor reflected on your TransUnion report that isn't currently on Experian.

I really think we did get substantial enough for AMEX to clamp down as they did.  If you think about just hundreds of people churning a few thou$and in bonuses each year it is only a few hundred thousand dollar loss for AMEX.   But if you take thousands of people x thousands in bonuses = losses in the millions.  The bean counters start to notice that.

I canít tell the difference between this thread and the FT thread. That is not a good sign.  :-[

At least I don't have to get annoyed by cardinal talk in this thread

The reps seem clueless these days and will say anything.

Check out this response today on my PRG when I explained it had been over a year since my last bonus - he is saying T&C only allow 1 product bonus per lifetime  :o

I have checked your Card account ending in xxxxx and see that the promotional offer associated with your Card account is "get 25,000 Membership Rewards bonus points after you spend $2,000 on the Card within the first three months of Cardmembership."

I would like to inform you that as per the terms and conditions of this offer, Cardmembers are eligible to get bonus points for only one Card account.

This means that if you had a Premier Rewards Gold Card before and you received bonus points on that Card, you are not eligible for bonus points on another Premier Rewards Gold Card.

I see that you received 25,000 bonus points on your previous Premier Rewards Gold Card (xxxxx) on 9/01/2011. Therefore, you are not eligible for another 25,000 bonus points on your Card account ending in xxxxx.

I appreciate your understanding in this matter.

It sounds like the clock may start when you cancel the card.  I waited out a PRG bonus that never came (8 weeks as of yesterday); the last PRG card and bonus was over a year ago but I only cancelled that card a few months ago.  So I have had that product in the last 12 months.   I guess I can send a futile SM and see the response!

Anywhere to pick up the reloads besides OD?

I've found them at 7-11 (and CC was accepted).

Within a week.

You seemed to imply earlier waiting a month.  From what I've seen if they don't come within about a week they aren't coming at all (so I don't blame people for asking AMEX at that point)

Although Wells Fargo does not accept AMEX to do the load correct?  And using a Citi card = cash advance?

A few early reports came in yesterday that Walmart's register accepted cash or debit to initially load them but credit wouldn't work, so YMMV.

Also Square has shut people down for this kind of activity.

Actually - the opposite - I just spoke to American Express - They said any account that opens on or after Nov 5th the $6,000 cap becomes effective immediately. So you better hurry.

Great info AEF, thanks.
