What number do I call at BofA to verify my approved app has the right bonus attached to it?

I doubt BofA will know anything about it  ::)  Not sure on the Barclay number but after I was approved, I was instantly able to login and determine I had the 40k bonus attached, under the menu 'Rewards' and 'Program Overview':

40,000 points for $1K spent in first 90 days    First Use Bonus

MB - 50k
Plat - 50k
Biz Plat - 50k
Biz Gold -50k

If you didn't have one of the above in the past 12 months.

Good choices I agree, though I wonder about the compatibility of those products under the new 12 month bonus rule.  For example the Business Platinum app says no bonus if you had this product or any other Business Gold or Green Card Account within the last 12 months.  I also wonder what AMEX will say about getting bonuses for both a personal MB plat and personal Vanilla Plat if the points don't come automatically.

Does anyone know where Barclays pulls from in NY?

Barclay's loves to pull TransUnion - which makes my Experian happy.

So Amex Mercedes Benz is pfficially only for 1st timers (of that year), I have a feeling this will hold true for all Amex cards, does anyone have a recent good experience churning starwood?

I churned a starwood and delta no problem recently.  Perhaps it is MR based cards where they started clamping down, but who knows if the others may follow:..

In roughly the same boat and got the same response, though my 8 weeks from spend is coming next week... so lets see if they really issue the points (or they suddenly remember something about a "12 month rule"!)

Oh boy did I call that one!  Message today at my 8 week mark:

----
I have reviewed your account and I see that your Card is not eligible for 50,000 bonus reward points because you previously had Mercedes Benz Platinum Card ending in xxxxx.  The 50,000 bonus reward points offer is available only to new Mercedes Benz Platinum Cardmembers.

As per the terms and conditions of the offer, welcome bonus is not available to the applicants who have had this product within last 12 months.

I am sorry for the incorrect information provided in previous emails.

Sincerely...

There are plenty of gift card options, including Amazon, Macys, etc. You can also have them pay your student loan at 1CPP.

This also works to make a payment to your credit card, or any loan...  which is basically equivalent to cash @ 1cpp, so IMO there would be no reason to get gift cards unless they are on sale.

Is there any way to use the amex prepaid at an ATM with no fees at all (including bank fees)?

Yes.  First you need to find a surcharge free ATM.  And then only do 1 ATM withdrawal per month to avoid the fee from AMEX.

Too much work for my liking  :D

Sign-up bonuses are a better option for most as they net even more than 10% on the spend and so require less work.  But they stop at a fixed payout for the price of an inquiry and new account.  Here the potential payout is far greater.  More work though yes, and definitely not for everyone.

You can of course find many other store gift cards at your grocery store as well (Amazon, Home Depot, Lowes, etc.) to basically get 10% cashback at those places too, and maybe earn a good chuck of fuel rewards if your grocery offers those.  The only thing I don't like about buying gift cards to actually buy things, is losing out on purchase protection benefits.

What did you buy? Buy and return on sep cc?

$500 Vanilla Visas. Unloaded on Amazon Payments, Venmo, etc.

Well the card only gives 10 percent for the first 90 days for GGD. I dont use those categories enough to make a hard pull worthwhile.

The last time they had this offer I was easily spending $10-20k/month at Walgreens and CVS and I never shop there 8)

Applied for the MB in May, cancelled it in June, applied again in September. I met the spend and didn't see any pending points, so I SM'ed and was assured that I will receive the 50K in 6-8 weeks. So fingers crossed.
