You're lucky, it's been almost a month since I met my spend threshold for my Amex Gold PR card and my bonus points haven't posted yet :/

CSRs have the power to move points to your account almost instantly. Try calling their MR department.

Competes with Platinum AMEX, it seems to.  Reported today by The Points Guy.

Waiting for analysis by Dan and others.

(ETA: I do not see much advantage if you already have the Plat AMEX.)

I'm not a huge fan of the RC program to begin with (being an infrequent Ritz stayer) as the redemption point costs are so high. Given that normal spending on this CC is only the standard $1 per month, your rate of reward stays will not be that high unless you already have a high rate of spend at their hotels.

Do you receive the additional mileage bonus if you pay using the US Airways card? If so, the cpm is quite good.

ok I got this
"'Your divvy appears to be used for a cash advance, which is against our User Agreement.  We've cancel your transaction and closed your divvy."
email today . I had sent it to a different address and a different first name .
Should I take the risk of using the same address just a different last name or wait and not risk getting banned?

Do you have bank accounts associated to your accounts?

Credit Cards / Re: Problems buying amex gift cards
« on: June 07, 2011, 01:43:51 PM »
I bought a few amex gift cards.  Now all of sudden when I try to buy a gift card, it cancels all my orders and I have not been able to successfully buy them.  I even tried under my wifes account and it did not work and got the same problem.  I called amex gift cards and they could not give me a straight answer.  I am going crazy.  Any eitzos?

Are you purchasing with an Amex? There's been quite a few reports of people not being able to purchase Amex GCs with their Amex cards anymore. Amex has been on a tear trying to eliminate anything that might smell of a cash advance.

Try registering for the first-time promotion. If accepted, you should receive the bonus as this is how others have gotten it to work.

As an update, it seems Chase is cracking down on the multiple application method. I recently applied for both the BA Visa and CO cards thinking two would be able to get through the application with my relatively good credit. After not being instantly approved, I called Chase a few days later to inquire and was told that both were turned down due to multiple applications at the same time.

I then asked the CSR how to remedy the situation, and he had me select one card to run through. I chose the BA and was approved over the phone upon sharing some of my CL from another Chase card with the BA Visa.

looks like i edited my last post after you quoted it...
When you called, did you just give them the social and they pulled them up or did you have the reference numbers? Im assuming the latter as you said you you called about the amex originally?

I provided my SSN as I only had one reference number saved, but my original intent was to call re: both cards. I'd imagine you could probably make separate calls to different CSRs for each reference number to eliminate some of the risk of them seeing multiple applications. If only one of us worked in a Bank Service Center to verify the approval process...

Wow that is interesting. My wife has 2 pending apps with them and i was afraid to call as they would see both and likely deny one.

I wonder if your experience is the norm or whether most reps would notice and deny the second...

I'd imagine it's a case by case basis. Personally, I actually use a Citi card as one of my primary cards (for dining) so I'm not sure if that affected my application. Regardless, I was willing to split the CL across both just saying that I would prefer to have a Visa as a backup for the Amex (in case Amex isn't accepted).

Judging by others' recent experiences, it doesn't look like instant approvals are occurring that often for Citi or Chase apps, at least not on the popular mileage promos.

The same CSR approved you for both at once on the phone?

Yes - correct. The original approval was only for the Amex then I had her look into the Visa app as well. She immediately said that I was approved for it.

I doubled up on the personal Visa and Amex late last night and was not instantly approved (hovering mid 750s Exp rating). I then called customer service this morning and was asked to verify some information. They then approved me for both cards with 9k limits each and the 75k mile promos.

The one kicker was that it was with 4k spending limits within 6 months instead of the 1.5k. 8k wouldn't be too bad if I didn't have spending goals on a few other cards I just received. The application employee told me to give customer service a call once I received the cards to go over the promo terms so I'll give you guys an update then if the 1.5k spending is still available.
