When you call with an ETUV they can waive the telephone booking fee.  I don't know if they've changed the policy, but they used to waive the fee no problem.

No stopover is not the same as non-stop.  The flights do not have to be non-stop.

I have gold status now, do they automatically upgrade me when I check in? Or do I have to ask them about it? Also, how do I get the largest upgrade possible?

Most of the time they will automatically put you on a preferred floor, or in a slightly larger room, but Golds don't get much special treatment.  It never hurts to ask about an upgrade.  As for the largest upgrade possible, the war stories vary from the check-in tip to the "it's a super-special occassion" letter to the manager before you arrive.

You can only use them if you have some elite status with AA.

They are not guaranteed.  The stickers allow you to reques an upgrade.  Plat upgrades can clear 72 hours before the flight and Gold can clear 24 hours beofre the flight.

Getting your money's worth would be a flight exactly/just under 500 mile increments. i.e. 1499 miles.

Actually, they give you 50 miles grace (although that doesn't help for NYC-MIA).

I convinced them that me and my brother live together and he's closing the account and I'm opening one. They starting asking questions and it got a bit weird... but they're coming Monday to install my cable @ $29.95. The real question is should I be upfront with the installation guy (usually a 3rd party contracted with Optimum) or what do I tell him?

I can't imagine the the installation guy will care, but why not stick to the story?  Tell him it's weird, but you and your brother wanted a clean break with the accounts.

AsherO:  If it's any consolation, I'm in the same boat (Optimum internet only) and they refuse to budge.  I've called to complain about service, suggested I'd leave, and misinterpreted promos to apply to my situation - nada.

The truth is that I really have no leverage.  I don't want the double or triple play, and my wife will scream if we go to DSL.  Maybe I'll cancel the next time there's a three day y"t...

1) Does anyone know the limit?
2) Can you use AMEX or just Visa/MC?
