oooh...what coupon? im gonna try to add it!! that would be awesome-thanks!

Pretty sure $489 was after all coupons.  And it sold out quickly - by 6:30.  I tried to get the discount via chat and came up empty.  I'd say it's a good deal for an i5 touch.

There are ways to borrow/transfer Marriott points.  Easier if it's a family member, but can be done with anyone.

Since there's some interest in points, here's why I might offer a Cat 4 certificate vs. offering to sell points:

Seller perspective:  Marriott has been rolling out Mega Bonuses for a while and I'll earn one of those certificates after 2 or 3 one-night stays.  On the other hand, although I travel for business and am Marriott silver (almost worthless), I tend to stay at low priced hotels (avg. under $100 room rate) and often at Residence Inn which earns at a lower rate.  So let's say I earn, on average,  1,000 points per night.  That means 30 nights to get me the 30K Cat 6 reward.  Now if I sell a Cat 4 certificate for $90 I'm getting the equivalent of a $30-45 return per night.  If I sell 30K points for something like $250 then I'm getting the equivalent of an $8-9 return per night.

Buyer perspective:  There are plenty of Cat 4 hotels that go in the high $100s plus tax.  Buy a certificate and save $100, or 50%.  But Cat 6 rarely go over $300 plus tax, so spend $250 on the points and save only $50, or something like 20%.

I know, I know, there are plenty of exceptions and opportunities that could change this, but that was my general cheshbon.

What are you looking to get for a night in a cat 6 hotel (think it's 30K a night)?

I'd be using points so I don't think it would be a great deal for you, but I'll PM.

I did not know - just call and ask?

At any rate, I've got lots of Marriott points and free nights with no plans to use them, so the offer is still open.

1 night at any Marriott Category 1-4 expiring 7/13 - asking $90.

Here's the list of Category 4 hotels:

If it helps, I've got another four free Cat 1-4 nights available with later expirations, will sell for $100 each (only with the 7/13 one).

Not too much flexibility on this one, but prices are much higher than I expected...

One way/Round trip: Round Trip
Non-stop/Maximum stops/Any: Non-Stop Only
From: JFK
Departure dates: 5/21/13 or +1
Return dates: 5/29/13 +/- 1
Class: Any
Seats: 3
Alliance/Airline: Any

Eve/Night flights strongly preferred.

I'm seeing 1518 on LY, 1563 on DL

Seems like a great benefit - I can get BB GCs for a decent discount, Amazon not as much.

He kept on saying there's no blackout dates, while in fact -per my personal experience and David's- there is.
Would you consider that as "accurate answers"?

Don't be silly.  I said that the answers I received were accurate.

For what it's worth, I bought five certs, asked some specific questions in advance and received accurate answers.

This has gotten rather ugly - and over what?  Nobody was cheated or anything even close to it.  As David himself acknowledges, any frequent traveler would get value from these.

anyone can use promo code Military and get 24.99 tickets though

I did not know that - I only have these two codes that I probably won't use.

(Purchasing two adult tix to Great Adventure NJ w/ Military code comes to $58.39)
