Credit Cards / Re: Chase Reconsideration
« on: November 21, 2016, 10:50:17 AM »
I applied last night and wasn't instantly approved. I called both recon numbers this morning. The first guy said that it's in review and I will have an answer within 30 days. He said there is nothing for him to review right now. The second agent read the notes from the first agent and wasn't willing to look at it either.

Will HUCA make it worse as I will have more notes on my account? Better to try a bit later? Not at all?

Thank you

This one looks pretty good. Contemplating buying it.

There supposedly is a 25CUC departure tax which could only be paid in cash, so we each put that amount aside. We were never made to pay any tax in the end, so we came home with 75CUC between us.
I guess we were lucky there was no tax :) We did have minimal USD we could have always changed in a pinch.

No. But you can convert it to a non annual fee card.
No.
Oh well. I actually have the no AF UA card now.

Shame because I just closed my no AF Sapphire card after I got a letter that it will be shut for no activity. I didn't want it to say closed by issuer so I quickly transferred the credit lines and shut it down.

Trying to decide if I should 2 bm the Freedom unlimited and Sapphire reserve card now. 5/24 wouldn't be an issue.

Is it possible to convert a Chase UA card to the Freedom unlimited? Phone rep said it isn't possible on a partner branded card. I was wondering if that's true or I should HUCA.

Recent experience.  The cash price on Chase was the same. And I got it for pts at a 1.5 cent value.
Points
Tnx and Tnx! Good to know what to expect.

Combining this with the Freedom unlimited is a nice way to get 2.25 but cashing out would be a pain. The ability to transfer to partners though, makes that combo a no brainer IMHO. Even for those that like cash back.

I sort of split my spending between CB and reward cards. Now I think typical spending will be done on the Freedom unlimited unless I need a warranty (Amex) or it's something in a bonus category with another card.

On The Road / Re: EHD (MD) Hotel Price Mistake Master Thread

They just emailed me a few hours ago saying was a price mistake and re confirmed it with new price of $699 without asking me.offered a lame 20% off

Any recourse?
What upset me was how they confirmed the higher price without getting my ok first. Low.

How does booking travel through the Chase website to get 1.5 compare to Expedia or other travel websites?

If I book travel through the Chase website and subsequently cancel without penalty do I get the point back or an actual monetary credit on my credit card? Tnx.

I only got approved after applying calling and transferring credit
That's what I am expecting or at least hoping for.

Is the travel credit as easy as with the Barclays Arrival, where if you book a refundable hotel and cancel you still keep the travel credit?

Potentially yes

I did just that I think I swung 20+ thousand credit line on it
Great I am going to try for it. In a way, the larger CL I would think would hurt instant approval but help out with recon.

If anyone is interested I have $190 Cuc available for a swap for USD. That will save you the 10% USD penalty.

PM if you need!
How did you and SF both leave the country with extra money?!?! By the time we left we were totally strapped for cash. We clearly weren't used to how much of a cash society Cuba really is.

I have 26K of credit line between 2 chase personal cards and another 11K on the ink. Would that potentially make it easier to get approved for the Sapphire Reserve as I have the ability to shift credit lines? I am under 5/24.

Looking to use bamboo fencing for Schach.

The ones with a hecsher on them and marketed for Schach (that I saw on Amazon) are 80 dollars or so to the typical bamboo fence sold online for 5 to 10 dollars. Anyone know of an option that is kosher (I would obviously ask my LOR) that is not sold for Sukkos and as a result isn't priced high? I was told that the material holding together the bamboo should be natural.
