I don't understand what you mean, it is now a pending transaction.

Have you never heard of credit cards & gas stations placing a hold? Chill, it'll show up fine when it leaves "pending transactions"

Yup, I got notated that I "hung up" too, when my phone got disconnected :( The following CSR (amex plat) called it a stupid note, haha

Difference between MR and MR express? (just 'cuz I'm curious)

Phew, panicked for a second when I thought my PR Gold won't be able to transfer points. Here's a summary posted on April 2011:

I think MR express doesn't let you transfer, and gets worst redemption values on stuff. Other than that, same as MR regular, I suppose.

Btw, any thoughts on my previous questions whether Amex will hold a grudge if I cancel so soon after I bled my Plat card dry of all its perks?

Bule n-n-cash isn't a charge, so that would work, but no MR 1st (transfer to miles).

I think you can still transfer miles with plain MR and not MR 1st, right?

Lose them totally? Like gone?

I believe if you don't have another MR account (you can downgrade from MR First to MR, no problem), then there's a short timeframe (30 days) before your points go totally poof.

first of all if you cancel your card while you still have points in them you will lose the points unless you have a different card that earns membership reward poins

second of all you can bring in to a lounge up to 4 family members for free

Right, I have the Gold PR card to keep the points, and I plan to keep that card at least till next year. And yeah, unfortunately, I don't yet have any plans to fly with the 4 airlines that get Plat access, so I would have to use the priority pass :(

So...I got my plat card noted, ran up $1000+ in a couple of weeks, got the points expedited to my acct (all 100K) and paid off my balance.

Question: would it look really bad if I canceled it this quickly after all the points post, even if I have a "good excuse"? Or should I wait till the tail end of 60 days before calling to cancel?

Also, has anyone ever gotten a retention offer good enough to justify the $450 annual fee? I don't really value the lounge access all too high (especially if i have to pay $27 for my wife)...

It stands for "Your Mileage May Vary", meaning that things might turn out differently in your situation compared to another's. For example, he/she might've gotten a bonus applied after one call, where you might get a bad rep and get rejected.

Is quizille a legit site?

Yup, Quizzle works well. It only updates twice a year though, I believe. Still not terrible for free Experian + report.

Chase: Equifax AND Experian (one SP, one COOPP card, not sure which is which)
Citi: Experian
Amex: Experian (2 apps, 1 pull)

Please do some searches, your question has been answered many times before. Here's the sticky on the top of the page (, which says:

Even if you are rejected you can always ask for reconsideration for approval.  Be proactive by offering to have older cards closed or have credit lines shifted around from older cards to newer cards.

Done and done! Called recon, was asked why I wanted to open these two cards, on hold for 10 mins, and approved for 6K line, SP card was untouched = yay! As always, it never hurts to ask!

For those of us in Northern CA, Safeway currently has a $10 off next purchase when you buy $100 in Visa gift cards. Pretty simple way to get 4% discount/CB (after activation costs) on some easily "laundered" visa GCs.
