Credit Cards / Re: CO OnePass credit card 50K SIGNUP BONUS
« on: July 06, 2011, 05:51:26 PM »
So I just found out today that my Chase Saph Preferred was just approved and my CO OPP was denied. Considering the extra-fuzzy-YMMV land this 50K deal is in, do you think it's worth trying to call recon?

My understanding is that being denied doesn't impact the credit score and doesn't land a hard inquiry on your report, is that correct? If I'm wrong and it's already dinged, I might as well call and try to reallocate some of the 11K CL I have on my Saph Pref. and try. What do you guys think?

If you want to churn the plat and gold cards, is it better to cancel them or downgrade them after you've gotten your points?

IMHO, as soon as you get both cards, meet the plat spend req. ASAP, make sure you've squeezed out all the bennies you want (rental elites, SPG Gold, etc), and then close it before 60 days to get your full fee refund. Then you can finish the gold card and maybe use it throughout the free year; no point in canceling/downgrading it right away. THEN call when the year's almost up and see if you can get a retention bonus worth staying for. The PR Gold's not a bad card at all to keep and use btw..

Thanks for the response, Asher0. Wasn't tempted to get greedy, but figure I might as well try for kicks :D

Unfortunately, they mentioned on their note (not on my note to them) that my card was opened in late June and the promo was open from 4/17/2011 & 5/31/2011.

Again, my leftover question: since they already issued a small goodwill point bonus, would you still be able to call/SM for a full match?

Asked for a match to the Insite deal, but they said since I signed up late, they can't match. They did give my 1000 points though.

I'm not planning to ask for more, but just for my info: next time something like this happens, can you call MR and ask again for the match? Or does it ruin the chances of a full match if they "goodwill" a smaller number of points?

hi i just called and 12 minutes later i was approved for the offer. Rep said will get points by July 15. Any reason to worry? I just got my gold card last week so was kinda hard to get approved cause i did not exist when they ran promo. How can I expedite this.

I don't think you have to worry; if they made a promise to approve you for the offer, just wait. Don't worry about "not existing" when they ran promo because it's totally out of their own goodwill, not obligation that they matched that offer anyway. You can call them/SM them to try to get them to expedite it, but why not just wait till Jul 15 and see? No biggie..

Sent SM for both this offer (100K on amex plat) and the PR Gold card (75K) and note was added on my acct. Will SM back after my spending is in, and hopefully the points will post :) Definitely one of the best deals!

Ah, yes, sorry for the typo. Considering I don't have, and can't sign up yet, for an online acct, would it be worth calling MR to see if they can note the acct and expedite the cards?

Ah, got it! 2 browser-ed the Plat Charge Card and Gold Premier Charge cards, got instantly approved for both, and hoping that the matching will go through! Will update.

Since I don't have an AMEX account online yet, do you guys think I should call recon and get them to notate my account before I receive the cards?

Now if only my Saph Preferred and Chase CO can give me a decision... :/

Clicked through to try and apply for the card, and it says the deal is expired. Boohoo :( Was just going to spring on it today to AOR with my Chase cards...

Might be a silly question, but where do we get these "reference numbers" mentioned here? Did it come from the application page when you submitted it?

When you're talking to recon and they mention that they will probably let us know in 2 weeks, do you then ask them if they can approve it sooner? How does that conversation work out? :)

Thanks for the advice! Learning the ropes..

Same boat as in AJK. I called Chase at their app status check: Chase: 800-432-3117 (Application status), and they said that they will notify me in writing within 2 weeks. Does that usually mean a rejection? :(
