If you have to spend a minimum amount of money on a card to get the bonus miles then they are considered a purchase rebate (thats why a 50K AA CC offer isn't taxable because they require you to spend on the card). I am not familiar with this offer but if there is a debit card component (like spend a minimum on the debit card linked to the bank account) that would figure to avoid the tax problem...
I would like to think you are right, but I think I saw somewhere that as long as its associated with a checking account it's considered interest income (hence 1099).

and beware i believe with miles they issue when posted but with ty points they issue in the year they are redeemed

What about if you transfer the TYP to someone else? (they are transferable, right?)

I just happened to be on the thank you points website earlier today, there are two type of thank you points, taxable and nontaxable, the taxable ones cant be transferred.

You may transfer some or all of your available qualifying ThankYou Points as a gift to another ThankYou Member by using the Transfer Points feature of ThankYou Rewards, provided the Points to be transferred are not due to expire in less than 90 days. In order to transfer your points, you, as the transferor, must have first set up your ThankYou Member Account with a user name and password either through the ThankYou Service Center or
ThankYou Points can be transferred only to another ThankYou Member Account.
Once you transfer Points to another ThankYou Member, the transferred Points will be deducted from your Points Balance and added to the recipient's Points Balance. Points will post to the recipient's account immediately after the transaction.
The recipient of transferred Points may not transfer the Points received to another ThankYou Member.
Taxable Points and Points made unavailable for redemption due to signs of fraud, abuse or suspicious activity in your ThankYou Member Account or due to your failure to make the required minimum payment due on your participating Citi credit card account by the payment due date are not eligible for transfer. Taxable Points are Points obtained through activity unrelated to purchases made with your Citibank Debit MasterCard or with your Citi credit card, as well as Points received for a Citibank checking relationship and bonus Points that may be awarded for opening new Sponsor accounts or for signing up for new Sponsor services.
Transferred Points received expire 90 days from the date they are received.
If an item redeemed with transferred Points is returned, the transferred Points used for the redemption will be returned to the ThankYou Member Account of the redeemer, but the Point expiration timeframe of the transferred Points will not re-set. For example, if transferred Points with 60 days left before they expire are redeemed and 30 days later the Points are returned to the ThankYou Member Account after the redeemed item has been returned, the transferred Points will expire 30 days after they are returned to the redeemer's ThankYou Member Account.
A submitted request to transfer Points may not be cancelled by the transferor or the transferee and transferred Points may not be returned to the transferor by the recipient.
You may transfer your available Points through or through the ThankYou Service Center (1-800-THANKYOU). When transferring Points, you must accept the applicable Terms & Conditions before completing the transaction.

The food is great, but its Manhattan prices in Teaneck, I would still recommend it just don't expect it to be cheap.

Serve is limited to $100 a day and $250/month. Will take you forever...
Serve is $200 a day $1,000 a month this is a Debit Card not a Credit Card. I forgot to mention you must register the card first with the website on the back of the card, otherwise the address will not agree with your serve account and the load will fail. If your zip code starts with a 0 do not use go wallet (use giftcardmall) they have a "bad" glitch in their system and they drop the zero.

i went to pay my tuition but the office couldnt process the cards as their computer could only choose an expiration of 5 years from today. these cards all expire in 2021....any ideas?
Load them on to your Serve account, then pay them with your serve card.

Why don't you give Dan your phone number and he'll call you to get deals instead of him googling it??

Hey guys and gals give the guy a break he thought he had a good deal. He is obviously a newbei, and he thought two bathing suits for $15 in the winter is an awesome deal. Regardless I have to thank him for giving me a good laugh, every reply/quote is funnier than the next.

The scam part I hear. But it us definitely not an interest free loan. He's paying 2.5-3.5% for money he'll previously only have for a short time

I missed that part but that makes it even worse.

I would guess the way they absorb the cc fees is by the fact that we are giving this giving this guy an interest free loan.
I would stay far away from this, this could be a whole scam. Think of it this guy has lots of businesses, he needs cash he opens up this kinda bank with interest free money. If one of his other ventures go bad, who is going to foot the bill? Me and and you my friend. If anyone learnt anything over the past 5 years is that we can't trust anything that's not FDIC insured.

Hey Dan and anyone else who has “relevant experience”, Whats your opinion on this. I churn amex and other cards multiple times thru out the year. If I add my wife on to all my amex accounts as a authorized user, do you think the next time she applies it will affect her getting approved. I know as a authorized user it does show up on the credit report. I don’t want to mess up an application for a $25 credit, but then again I want to max out if I can.
Thanks Man

Hi Guys, long time follower first time poster. I signed up the Plat and Gold offer with the double browser method, for like 8 people but i signed up for the REGULAR GOLD account by mistake . I called up to try to get my 10k to 75k and the rep was very nice but she looked and looked and said she could not find and regular gold card that offers first year free and 75k. Since she had nothing to go one she could not add the 65k to my account. I checked this whole tread I could not find someone else as dumb as me who applied for the wrong Gold card. Has any one had a similar situation ?
