I don't know what I would do if I was blogger but can a case be made that a blogger should mention in branch option in its main post as well to give its readers a choice which way they would like to apply.  Although the difference may be small to most some people may prefer the AF waived than the grocery credit for different reasons etc...

I totally hear the side of helping the blogger especially in a case like Dan and JJ who do so much for us thank you again!

The other side though is that the reader maybe should have final say after all options are laid out on the table by the bloggers as at the end of the day Panassah min Hashamayim so I dont think the blogger can go wrong here.  It only reinforces his faith and being completely up front?  But maybe I am biased as well coming from the reader's perspective but not sure just laying it out.

Depends how you value your time I guess. Need to go into the branch and spend X amount of time doing that, all to save $45.
Deprives a blogger of your choice from a lot more income than that, though I get that's not a primary factor. Clearly I'm biased here, but JJ and I and our families certainly appreciate those who use our links :)

I understand where you are coming from ;)
but for me chase branch is near me and it could be grocery credit was included as well just not sure

33
Grocery credit?

not sure
but even if not; $95 AF savings better than grocery credit

banker said yes af waived first year and 80K if I come in .

He was very nice he even tried to send me link to in branch offer so I don't have to come in but did link did not work for some reason

approved after applying in branch 80K AF waived!

On The Road / Re: Credit Card Car Rental Insurance
« on: March 24, 2021, 05:08:57 PM »
I have researched this a bit in the past,
I don't remember clearly, there may have been one random company that maybe sold liability, but wasn't any better/cheaper than the rental company's.
3rd party companies usually only sell cdw/ldw.

The options if you don't want to buy the company's liability are:
usually you can rely on your own.
If you don't have a car, you can take out a non-owners policy from a car insurance company. However, that isn't something you can/usually buy for a couple weeks, its a 6 month/year thing.
I don't think you can take a out q non-owners policy for just a month, and also once you have had a policy, it may not be good to go and not have any policy after that.

In some states, the rental company is obligated to have minimum liability coverage in general. That wouldn't necessarily help you since they could very well pass on the costs that would be occured in an accident to you nonetheless.

I see thanks for the nice roundup!
This renter lives in Israel so I think she has even less options meaning I don't think her Israeli car insurance will cover her here and I am not sure if she can even get a non-owners insurance policy here in the US if she lives in Israel.  What I am also concerned is that she will get slammed with fees at the counter. She got a nice deal from these smaller companies who can be notorious for adding on costs and fees etc..... See below;  insurance info says full coverage but that is very misleading.  They may require her to show proof of CDW/theft/liability etc....

Can you SM chase to ask when you received the bonus last or do you have to call?
call
sm was not accurate IME as I think they look at only specific account and not your global history with chase

I am trying to help someone from Israel who made a reservation(see below) for a car in Miami airport with their insurance options as this reservation seems a little tricky with their wording of full coverage below.  Their Full coverage does not seem to include CDW or theft protection  nor liability?

what do they mean "Damages to the car’s body and undercarriage"(sounds like CDW up to $3500?)
How do they go about securing liability insurance if they live in Israel?

On The Road / Re: Hotel Resort Fees

This email thread below (most recent first) just reinforces what we already know here that perseverance pays and that hotels CAN waive fees(resort fees) despite their stated policy.

For religious reasons we don't plan on using these amenities.  I think in these circumstances you should waive the resort fee,  Please consult with a supervisor and kindly get back to me.

Thankyou for understanding

Thank you for choosing W Fort Lauderdale for your stay!

Regrettably we are not able to extend the below concession. The resort fee is a mandatory fee at our property, also our parking IS owned and run by a third party. We apologize we are not able to accommodate your request.

We look forward to welcoming you!
