That's the whole point!  The weirder it is, the more you pay attention and the more you will remember it!
Plus, the more you talk about "Delta...Delta...Delta."  Great marketing.
not if you can't even finish watching it

Re: Chase Sapphire Reserve
Not as bad as what happened to me tonight.

Called Chase (yes it was Chase) with my wife to reallocate some of her credit lines, and then asked to cancel a different card of hers. Rep said, "I'll have to transfer you to a different department, because it's a co-branded card." All of the sudden, we hear "Thanks for calling, if you're a man looking to have sexy talk with a man, press 1, if you're a man seeking a woman, press 2, if you're a woman seeking a woman, press 3, and if you're a woman seeking a man, press 4." 😱😱😱

Talk about a different department...

They must've transfered you to Chase Very Private Banking.

Re: Prison I have to be honest, some of the comments here make me nauseous. If you havenít had to deal with the nisayon of committing crime and the experience of jail or prison (myself included BH) then how can you think you know what itís like? We should appreciate brave individuals that share their stories, to help others and to create an awareness. Not a single person can say with 100% certainty that they would have made different choices. As far as the experience of a jail or prison, obviously everyone has their own experience but just because you know someone who had an experience that was less than pure hell, doesnít mean that atrocities arenít committed in many cases.

When I started davening today in the morning I thought to myself about struggles others have with davening.
I questioned myself am I davening the way I should?

It made me daven with more kavonah and try to take it to a higher level.

Gourmet sushi with cooked salmon?!?!??
Love it, we can now sum up DDF. @aygart thinks Dan is crazy for only liking cooked salmon sushi and doesn't think that even qualifies as gourmet sushi, @Dan think Mochas is crazy because he won't touch fish not even cooked salmon, and @mochjas thinks everyone is crazy because the only good sushi is meat sushi.

And anyone to the right or to the left are dead wrong and crazy...

Now apply this to Politics, religion, etc and you have 95% of DDF summed up.

Around the World in 23 days, A Honeymoon TR by Wizmanison Although this trip was not 'technically' a RTW trip or a honeymoon (as we have been on several 'honeymoon' trips before and after this trip) the title seemed fitting. Like most people a trip to the Maldives or Bora Bora was always high on my bucket list. Having recently getting married and with the sale that was going on, I thought what better excuse to make a trip to the Maldives! When beginning to plan I noticed that most of the TRís I read were lacking some information either intentionally or not. Therefore, I will try to make this TR as transparent and detailed filled as I can! I will try to include prices for everything I remember as well as any information I uncovered from my countless pages of reading. Thank you to all those who contributed, whether I read your TR or not it really does help others a when planning.

I apologize in advance if I make any grammar mistakes, input any unreliable or false information, bad photos or anything else that might offend you. No intentions to do any of the above but if it happens SORRY!

For those that just want a summary of what and how I booked and not the super detailed trip report that will follow, here you go:

I happened to book 5 nights at the SR MLE in May of 2017, around the time when all the bloggers were writing about the reduced price for the SR MLE. Since I was able to cancel until December I thought why not just hold the dates just incase. So for 234,000 SPG points I booked the 5 nights in the Maldives. I was busy at the time planning my Summer trip and pushed off the idea of planning the MLE trip.
It was only till about late October - Mid November that I started getting realistic about making a trip out of this booking. I seriously thought of just cancelling the 5 nights but after speaking to several people about how amazing their trip was I had to at least try to plan a trip. So I started reading and slowly kept on adding a list of possible stops to this trip to the other side of the globe. My thought process was more or less if I am already flying all the way out there I might as well make the most of it.

We used travel credit from price matching our flights as well as family members flights and other credits we got from complaints to book LAX-JFK for $286 each.
After looking at several options it seemed most feasible to make AUH the hub and use ANA to book the roundtrip from JFK-AUH.  I planned to book side by side Etihad Apartment suites for our longest flights and EY was showing availability for 149k MRó> ANA eacH. So I transferred hoping to book. But, when it came too booking ANA was not able too see availability :(. So we booked just Business class. Since these RT flights offer a free stopover, I chose Egypt. Mostly because other places were either to far, not interesting enough, or we had to little time to explore that destination.

We then used 50k Merrill points for two flights from CAI-MLE. But, for reasons youíll read later we actually ended up using 50k UR.

MLE-SIN (Singapore) costed us 18.5 URó> SIN plus $50 YQ each (CSR credit).

I then waitlisted a bunch of SIN-DPS (Bali) flights on SIN. A couple weeks before departure they cleared up and I booked it for 7,500 URó> SIN and like $25 YQ each (CSR credit).
It was pretty hard finding a DPS-USM (Koh Samui, Thailand) flight for our dates but we finally found the option to book DPS-USM with a stopover in SIN. How it would work is we would fly DPS-SIN on Singapore airlines and then SIN-USM on silk air. It cost 12.5 URó> SIN and $20 in taxes each (CSR credit). This flight had us getting into Singapore at like 1:30 AM and the next flight to Koh Samui was only leaving at 8:30 am. I chose this flight because I wanted to get into Koh Samui and enjoy the Conrad the most I could for the short time we were there (2 nights). So we went into one of the PP lounges and slept there.

For the next flights, besides AUH-JFK, I booked them all days before travel as I started to get really busy the weeks before the trip and even during the trip. It was really hard to find flights from USM to anywhere else in Thailand that didnít leave early morning. And, like I said I wanted to enjoy my time at the Conrad KS. I looked at every option to literally every airport in Thailand and even other routings out of Thailand and back in but could not find anything. And for the flights I did find they either had no availability or only 1 seat available, or were ridiculously expensive. Thinking I struck gold, I booked a flight from USM to BKK on Expedia only to see after paying that it was for dates 3 months out! This was because when I translated google flights to Expedia, it inverted the month and day with the google translation. I immediately called in and with enough HUCA they refunded me. They claimed that these flights were non refundable because flight was within a week and these carriers donít offer 24 hour refund. I escalated to manager and they gave me a ďone time exceptionĒ refund. So, with all other options exhausted we ended up taking a ferry from USM-DonSak Pier for $9 each. And then transportation to URT, other known as Surat Thani Airport in Thailand, for $8 each. I then took a flight from URT-DMK for $52 each person (CSR credit) on Air Asia.

We spent like less then 12 hours in Bangkok, pretty much just in the markets as my wife wanted some purses and stuff and we got a massage. Stayed at a $20 hotel found on Orbitz since we were only in the room for like 2 hours and it offered a shuttle to the airport. Our flight was at 6:20 am. We flew from BKK-HKT for $52 each person (CSR credit) on Bangkok Airways.
We arrived in Phuket at 7:45am and went to do the Phi Phi Island tour. Came back to airport at around 6:30 for our 7:20 flight to Chiang Mai. We flew AirAsia HKT-CNX, booked a day or two before, for $114 each (CSR/Ritz Credit) and arrived at 9:15pm Thursday night.
Stayed in CNX for 3 nights before heading back to BKK for a flight to AUH. We flew Thai Airways CNX-BKK from 3:20pm-4:35pm for 13k UR or $98 each.

With a unforeseen SUPER tight connection it was only by a matter of pure YMMV that I made it to the next flight: BKK-AUH 6:05pm-10:05pm. We flew business for this route as it was a longer flight at around 7 hours and I had been driving my wife crazy with all the intra Thailand flights. It was also a great price! Since I have so many AA points it was easy to spend 40k miles, each, for biz class. With the Citi 10% bonus it ended up being 36k and $25 in taxes each (CSR/Ritz Credit).

After taking forever in customs in AUH for reasons that I never found out (I was like the only one in line and the man left with my passport for like 30 minutes somewhere) and going through a whole ordeal with the rental car we got to Dubai and spent 2 nights there before returning for our flight back to AUH-JFK with Etihad to complete our RT. We left at 10:15 and arrived in JFK at 3:50.

Purposely giving us like a 5 hour layover, our flight from JFK-LAX with AA for $204 each, booked with AA gift cards, courtesy of plat and biz plat travel credit, was from 9:15-1:06am. We did this so we could land, see some friends & family briefly and finally eat  freshly made food!

So all in all we took about 16 flights and a ferry ride over a 3 week 2 day period. We spent approx. 60-66 hours in flights and visited about 3 Continents, 7 Countries, 8 States/Cities, and 11 Islands.

Detailed Trip Report in the works. Have written some of it, but adding pictures on DDF is relatively new to me and seemingly time consuming. Will be posting Egypt TR in the coming days as soon as I finish figuring out the pics.

And yet, traffic keeps hitting record high numbers, so somebody must like what's going on.
It's funny, because when I first started following the DDMS deals, they were a bit spammy to me as a young single guy (what the hell do people do with dishwasher pods?) but I stuck with it for the big glitches. I've evolved into a father of 2 who snags the diaper deals, which I used to hate, and the dishwasher pods are always a life saver. Guess it depends what you expect from the site and where you're holding in life, but for me personally I'll take 20 useless deals for the 1 that will help me out.

You purchased GCs from and it worked?

So I read a Flyertalk thread where others did gift cards and it worked.

I did it myself last week and the credit posted today.

So yes gift cards from do trigger the $300 credit

Re: PSA: Don't swipe recklessly for others
I am not a lawyer, but I worked for several years in a company that did equity investment loans. As is part of the business, some of the companies we invested into defaulted on the loans. We spent a lot of time taking these companies and individuals to court. We won some, we lost some, and in the process learnt a lot about how the legal system works.

I suspect that some of the victims of this Kingston Ave merchant might be reading this forum, so I will just say a few things:

1. When it comes to unsecured loans, courts of law operate on a first-come-first-serve basis. It also very much follows the Talmudic logic of כל דאלים גבר. In short, if any of the victims decide to lawyer up and go to court, they will be first in line to collect and seize assets (assuming there are any to seize). Other parties can try to rush to court to intervene and that may or may not be effective.

2. Victims with more money to spare are at a clear advantage. They can hire good lawyers and file a case. If any of these victims sustained more than $75,000 in losses then they can file a case in Federal court and even go as far as to ask for a preliminary injunction and have the merchantís warehouse and other assets seized. Once this happens, everyone else in line can be screwed.

3. If you are a victim, you must immediately get an exact accounting of the merchantís assets. You must find out if he has secured loans, because if he does then they are first in line no matter what.

4. As others have mentioned, if he declares bankruptcy, your money will unfortunately not be recovered. Under bankruptcy there is a specific order of who gets paid first, second third etc. first goes the court receiver, then taxes, then wages, then secured lenders, and then if there is anything left, unsecured lenders. There is usually nothing left for unsecured lenders. This is on top of the fact that this process can take several years and the credit card interest might not be sustainable for some victims.

5. Not every lawyer is a good lawyer. Thousands of lawyers graduate every year and many of them are dumb as a doorknob. Try to find a lawyer with experience in this specific field and ask around for references.

6. Donít assume that all victims are trying to help each other out. At the end of the day everyone is going to look out for their own skin. This sounds morbid, but some of the bigger, friendlier victims can hammer out a private deal with the merchant that will leave the smaller guys in the dirt.

Again, if you are a victim you must independently find out exactly what the merchant has. He could have squandered this money on something and his assets could be a quarter of what he took.

If everyone recovers their money from this it will be a miracle.

Do not rely on anything I wrote here. Consult with a competent lawyer.

Re: Large spenders. Best startegy

Sorry, can't reply to all.
Spend roughly 5m on chase on 6m on Amex.

Chase I use the biz unlimited and get 1.5mpd. However, I switched over to Amex as their limits are much higher and it's much easier for accounting not to keep paying.....

No, never invited to the centurion card - yes we have a rep.

Yes, I need miles (not cash back). Fly, extremely very often and cannot always afford to only do save awards. Definitely burn all my miles each year for biz travel and hotels. Honestly wish I had more for family vacations...

Therefore, wondering how to get 1.5mpd on Amex. Anyone have a large limit on their EDP? Can these easily be transferred to my biz platinum account?
Maybe you can help out this guy, if the Crown Heights guys donít get him first

I love how easy it is for everyone to be such a kanoi about something that they wish they had the nisayon of not doing.

"Oh no, not me, I don't want to be wealthy and if I was I would just give the tzedaka anyway without the other stuff" Sure sure, keep telling yourself that.

When I see Over The Top Weddings/Bar Mitzvah's or even Brissn, I say I wish I would have the ability to afford such an event along with the brains not to make such an event.

Re: Over The Top Purim Parties
It would be fun if you could finagle about why the whole issue of wealthy people creating wild parties doesn't bother you much considering your own admission of zealotry.
Or it does bother him but he is not bothered by the rabbonim not "banning" it.
As I posted already, inappropriate Purim parties are not at all restricted to the 1%.

I know of regular middle class couples who celebrated in a way that I would deem to be very inappropriate as well. And this all does technically bother me. Would you really like a 1000 word essay/rant against the new shallow culture of materialism? Meh, I don't have the energy..

So what exactly is the big deal if some rich dude throws a ridiculous party? To me personally it does absolutely nothing to impress, I basically couldn't care less.. I may shake my head and mutter something about kids these days...

Whoever wrote that OP letter though is despicable. They obviously hate rabbonim and we're just looking for an excuse to disparage them. It has nothing to do with the writers great pains about the party. I won't be jumping on that bandwagon.. this whole crises has nothing to do with the poor loser who needed to show off his success... Let them enjoy it.

Hopefully this will force the roshei yeshivos/menahilim/askanim to get involved
They donít need to necessarily backtrack, but they need to come up with ideas for kosher entertainment/ outlets
Nobody has to do anything. Rabanim have to stop signing every stupid little thing that's shoved in their face, there's a reason that people like R' Meir Stern's haskama means a lot, he never signs anything . You're not going to get people to stop taking these kol koreis seriously, especially in lakewood, what you can do however is try to get rabanim to stop cheapening the value of their haskama by giving it to every dumb thing that some "askan" decided was of the utmost importance for the future of klal yisroel.

Re: Pesach Program in Greece Cancelled Just Now! For those I interested I am at This resort although not part of the Pesach program. Although it is true there are some very dishonest people there are also mostly wonderful Jews. The other Jews in the resort offered help immediately with food of every kind. The managers and staff from the program stayed on for free and had several meetings with the group and with other Pesach programs in the area who provided help and expertise. Some hidden even paid for the villas so that everyone could stay where they were. At the end of the day I witnessed how wonderful the Jewish nation is and how fast we are to help another Jew in need. Boruch Hashem the management and staff has figured out how to continue the program (with several adjustments) until the end of Yom Tov. Mi Kíamcha Yisroel!!!

-Ubered due to time constraints. Had to wait until 12:40pm to enter with our 12:45pm tickets. The audio guide is a must. 9/10.

Rijksmuseum (3pm-5pm)
-Walked here from VGM. Audio guides were sold out. Night watch is beautiful and the All Rembrants exhibit was nice, but overall not as good as Van Gogh. 6/10.

Heineken Experience (5:15pm-7pm)
-Walked here from Rijks. Too drawn-out, gimmicky, and pricey, but worthwhile if you have extra time to kill and like beer. 5/10.

Dinner: HaBaron (Approx 7pm-9:30pm)
-Ubered here. Service is excruciatingly slow. Apps, soup, and burger 5/10. Ribeye 9/10. Dessert 10/10.

Day 2:
Bakery Laromme (8am)
-Andaz gave kosher breakfast, though the cheese was C"S, 6/10. We bought Shefa yogurts (Sold in several groceries near kosher restaurants) which @jj1000 said, are the best yogurts in the world 10/10. Didn't bother going to Laromme.
Anne Frank House (9:25am-11am)
-Walked here from Andaz. We wound up staying here until noon. Very moving and somber experience 10/10.

Albert Cuyp Market or Royal Palace or Maritime Museum or? (Approx 11:30am)
-Took a tram to Albert Cuyp Market. Walked around the market for a few minutes. Pretty kitchy stuff 4/10.
Lunch: Machane Yehuda (Approx 1pm)
-Located in the Albert Cuyp Market. Only had a few items available, food is decent but nothing memorable 6/10.

Portuguese Synagogue (Approx 2pm-3:30pm)
-Took a subway and tram here. Beautiful shul and some interesting factoids via audio guide. 8/10. We also went to the Jewish Museum next door which was worth a quick visit as well.
Segway tour (4pm-6:10pm)
-Guide asked if we wanted to go slow or fast. We said fast of course and he removed the limiter. We covered over 6 miles as the tour ran way over the official 5:30pm end time. A bit scary at first going so fast through busy car and bike traffic, but got used to it fairly quickly. A great look at the city, but I wish we had done it at the beginning of the trip. 10/10.

Canal Ride (Approx 6:20-7:40pm)
-Walked and took the Lovers boat from Centraal Station. Nice serene trip through the canals, but a bit boring. 6/10.

Dinner: HaBaron (Approx 7:30pm)
-Another slow but tasty experience. Skip the apps, get the ribeye, a glass of wine, and dessert.

Day 3

Seems like milk street cafť does not have a hashgacha? Anything downtown with a hashgacha?

Where did you get that information? See their website for hashgacha information.

Re: If You Could Ask AMEX Execs One Question, What Would It Be?
Probably not in their book. Right or wrong, they are doing FRís on people they essentially donít trust with (that much) credit.
True, but why not just slash their credit to an amount they deem safe until the FR is complete?

I think it's crazy too, but think Amex knows well enough what is a good process for them and what isn't...
Not necessarily... The biggest hotel chain in the world doesn't know their @$$ from a hole in the ground.

Re: Double take on Amazon...
I think I'm up 3 iPads (about $1000 worth). Its really not fair to these companies. If I'm missing an item i call and tell them and they (must) send a new one. But if i get an extra one i dont need to send it back.

I assure you the companies (esp.the amazons & apples) of the world are doing alright.

Re: What's up?
Welcome back!
Maybe there should be a forum for all those (stuck up ) guys who left in the last 5 years because the forum was getting taken over by newbies...
I can take newbies but those so called know-it-all newbies have to go.
