Like you said by doing a quick search on Pattaya the only thing i saw to do there, more or less was Night Clubs. Either way they have a minimum of 2 nights, and they are fully booked for when we need.
In the end i will probably stay at the Sheraton Hua Hin on Thursday, the rooms look decent but not amazing, but the resort itself looks beautiful, its 2 hours from BKK, which is a bit of a schlep but its near the beach and will give a good opportunity to relax after a couple busy days in Chiang mai.

W/ regards to the price, if we paid s/o, it would be to do a day trip to the environs. He sent me a list of 10 sample day trips, and if anyone's interested, I can post it here.
I would be interested maybe it will give me some more ideas :D

Here is our tentative itinerary for our trip.

Spend the 4th night at the Le Meridian on c&p (which was only bookable after hours of calls and chats. it seems that they don't have 'standard' rooms, they're all deluxe or higher)

What did you tell them in order to book? I need to call them tonight, last time i tried the reservation was closed.

I have one day im looking to spend at a resort my options are either-

Chiang Rai LM Cat 2
Seems like a nicer area but it will mean driving up 3 hours on Thursday and then taking a 10:40 flight, arrive 11:4- on Friday  ($89) so we could be Shabbos in Bangkok to catch our 1:00am flight out Moitzei Shabbos, i would also like time Friday to check out the palace and floating markets

Sheraton Pattaya Cat 4
The resort is just south of Pattaya along the beach i dont plan on going in to the city) but since we are going to be in BKK for Friday and Shabbos it might just be worth flying CNX-BKK on Thursday57$ and spending the Thursday afternoon and night at the Sheraton

Land in Chiang Rai in evening, stay in Le Meridian for 2 nights on c&p

Is there anything specific you found to do in Chiang Rai that cant be done out of Chiang Mai, or are you going more for the LM which seems to be very nice?

Groupon often has some packages for hotels or resorts. http://www.groupon.com/getaways?category=USA+and+Canada&dl=t31337

Thanks Fan Of Dan,
Cat 6 is slightly above my budget for a day stopover, i would like a cheap hotel to get a shower and maybe some sleep.

I would love to hear from someone that flew Ethiopian and had a similar stopover.

A quick search did not pull up any existing threads dedicated to Ethiopia, so here we go...

I have a 16 Hour stopover in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (ADD) 6:10am-10:15pm.
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about this place-

Is it safe for a religious Jew.
Visas.
Things worthwhile to do there.
hotels.

Thanks.

seems to be three places in bangkok that have shabbos meals. which one is the most ejoyable experience? going with my wife and baby

The only one i can answer for is Ohr Menachem Chabad.
I just spoke to a friend that was there last year who really enjoyed it, and had a amazing experience there, and Rabbi Nechemia Whillhelm is a amazing person. You just need to keep in mind that its geared towards Israeli tourists from what i hear.

Has anyone checked out the floating markets in and near Bangkok?
Has anyone come across any nice very quiet beaches within driving distance of Bangkok?

Thanks CBS

Im leaning towards skipping the beaches, although i read that Koh Samui has better weather than phuket and other beaches this time of year,  would you know anything about that?

Read down for discussion about the beach resorts. Due to the weather concerns, I'm not going to those places. I'll be staying in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.

Maybe we'll meet up :)

The week of April 12? ;)
Thanks, i will do a bit of research on Caing Rai

I will be traveling to Thailand with my wife in a few weeks, and will be there for 4/5 days
We are arriving in BKK-Monday. Tue morning we are off to-CNX (Chiang Mai).
We are leaving Thailand from BKK late Saturday night, which means we will need to be in BKK for Shabbos.
What are the suggestions of things to do in that time frame?
Is it worth taking a flight to Phukhet or Koh Samui or anther beachy area? Or would it make more sense to just stay in the Chiang Mai area and still feel that we experienced Thailand?
Thanks.
