Credit Cards / 2bm-what went wrong?
« on: September 12, 2012, 01:48:18 AM »
On Thursday i did a 2bm for the united explorer and the saphire preffered mastercard (i already have the visa). Both didnt get approved instantly and on the app status one said 7/10 days and the other 2weeks. Sometime on Fri/Shabbos the explorer was automatically approved, without calling. On tuesday i called to push through the mastercard, and as expected they said that application didnt go through because cant have two prefferd the same time even mc and visa.
I offered to close the visa and put the mc through (and/or tranfer the credit), and they said no problem but the mc will require ANOTHER HARD PULL.
I HUCA'd 4 different times and they all said the same thing-another hard pull is needed because nothing was pulled for the mastercard.

1-Did i do the 2bm wrong somehow? (dont think so-two different browsers and applied the same time)
2-Is there anything i can do or say that will get it through without another pull?

Up In The Air / Re: Airline Compensation Master Thread

its been over 3 weeks since i emailed united. I finally got through to someone from that department, after being transferred a bunch of times-they said they are about 5 to 6 weeks behind due to the many emails theyve gotten, and they are know up to the end of july emails. so basically if you email a complaint now, expect an answer in about 5 weeks, unless you get lucky.

Got 4k from starwood!
It was the first time calling for this in 4 years, so maybe thats why so much.
She also said shes putting in the notes that i cant ask for this again. Not sure if that'll be true in a year.

Was just there last week-Had the food ordered to my hotel. Was there on time when they said it would be and was very good. Def. worth the cheap price that it is. Also stopped by there one day. Its an ok setting and they have a free internet cafe type thing upstairs.

The trick to say your going to the bar at the sky park marina bay sands still works. You dont have to get a drink at the end if you choose not to and i was able to do it with a baby and stroller. They actually take you 1 floor higher so you get an even better view. After you can walk down a few steps to the regular sky park.

FYI for all those under the impression that the coffee bean in Singapore is chalav yisrael-its not.
Its officially chalav stam(of singapore, not the FDA of america) i spoke to the rav and he said he knows some blogs have it as chalav yisrael but its not.
However, you can buy milk in the chabad store(long lasting carton type) and ask them to use this milk for you

cool pic Cbs-looks pretty bad if it rains-however i think ill try my luck to start in Phuket and if the rain is in the forecast i can always leave early-main reason is because want to get villa with private pool (that isnt too expensive) and especially cuz i can use starwood in le meridien. If anyone has gotten villa with private pool in other places for a decent price, please let me know.

Dan, it seems like like you overall had a decent time in Le meridien-but did u feel it was too far out-like wasnt worth goin out to do any activities?

Also back to the original question: Hong kong or Singapore for thursday - monday? (with baby)

whats the shabbos situation there-is the meals something that is worthwhile?
Where did u stay for shabbos? I spoke to the rav there-he said he cant guarantee that he has a goy that can bring the baby, but hell try if were close by.
He suggested we stay in the Rendezvous hotel which is around the corner. Doesnt look too nice, especially for about $180 a night.

From what ive read on the forums, hong kong seems to have a great shabbos situation, however may not be that much to do other wise
Singapore on the otherhand, there isnt much info on the forums, but seems like alot nicer and more stuff to do-but dunno the situation with shabbos.

Regarding phuket-anyone stay in Le meridien khao lak? how was the hotel itself? too far from attractions?

im starting in beijing then goin to phuket for a few days-the last leg will be a weekend(thursday-mondy)so debating which one to do.
Being with a baby shabbos is the issue(regarding the halacha aspect, there are heterim, speak to your rav-but its not for this thread)
Once im doin phuket i think id skip bangkok and try to see something different.
