There probably were, anyway the whole area was called the Lita. Eastern Europe's map today is a mess when you know where shtetels and town used to be. I.e. Western Ukraine. Much of famous cities from East Galicia, Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Romania are now in Ukraine. These thugs even completely changed the names of them. Try to find Beregsaz or Ungvar >:(
it was always a mess

i.e. mir was in poland, called by the jews lita, and there were times that if u wanted to travel to kovna u had to go around and over thru latvia

in what today is known as belarus there were chasidim, in what today is known as lithuania, as far as i know there werent any chasidim

Are you aware of any of Chassidic history? Of what happened after the histalkus of the Maggid?
Do you know the story about the Maggid's yichus?
not really, but id be happy to hear...
