Great pics. Shame you didn't circle the road to Hana.
I guess I'll have to go back ;D

Judging from your waterfall pics it doesn't look like you need one.
I used tips from the revealed to photograph the waterfalls.

Nice pics. Looks like you've been to a photography DO.
No, not yet. It's on my bucket list when I make it to NYC.

JFK-LAX-HNL RT: $ 1016 for 6 Delta tickets in J
HNL-OGG-LIH-HNL: 103k HA + 10k AA for 5 tickets
Car rental: Maui 4400 hertz points + $60 Kauai: 3300 + 30
Lodging : $1885 for a condo in Wailea for one week. $609 for a condo in Princeville for 4 days

Delta: The flight from JFK - LAX had lie flat beds which was nice, after flying CX, LH and TG F it's hard to sleep on those beds ;). Ok , enough with the bashing. Aside from paying nearly nil for the flight, or actually profiting if you factor in the miles earned;)  everything was smooth from start to end. Delta has decent food and very good service. Ironically the service was better on the LAX-HNL first class leg.
On the return from HNL - LAX there was an Asian flight attendant that was so spoiling he reminded me of some spoiling Asian carriers.
The intra flights on HA were also very nice. They actually serve a beverage on a 20 minute flight, hey you wouldn't get that on a 9 hour flight with Shpirit.
After arriving in Maui Sunday evening we drove to our condo in Wailea. Other than some issues we had with non functioning essentials i.e. AC in one of the bedrooms etc the condo was great. It was a 2 BD, 2 BR, LR, DR, W/D, full kitchen, lanai with a grill it was perfect for a family.

Monday:  Hung out in the pool in on the perfectly manicured grounds. In the afternoon we drove north till the blowhole, it was quite the scene.  It's a short hike down and very worthwhile.

Tuesday: Again the pool in the morning. In the afternoon we drove up to Haleakala.
Wednesday: We did the road to Hana and took our jolly time. We saw many beautiful waterfalls on the way, you may wanna use the revealed for this road. We stopped and swam in natural pools, it was lots of fun. By time we made it to the black beach in was getting dark, so we turned around. All in all a great long fun day.

Thursday: We spent the whole day in the pool, that's all the kitties wanted to do.
At night I treated my wife to the Warren & Annabelle's magic show, oy what a disappointment.
We were seated in the front row hmmm what can go wrong, oh I nearly forgot.....they were overbooked so they added stools upfront. Guess what we couldn't see much because the people in front of us blocked our view, hey you win some you lose some. I was
disappointed, but I wouldn't ruin my trip over that . Strolling the town of Lahaina is nice. It's the most happening town in Maui.

Friday: We spent half the day in the pool and the other half on a nearby beach.

Saturday: The day of rest ( after 2 days of rest, oh well)

Sunday: We headed to OGG and flew to LIH. Rented a car, dropped off our stuff and headed to the Ke'e beach. Simply beautiful that's all I can say. Every beach on this island is more beautiful and unique than the previous.

Monday: Our first stop was at Opaeka'a falls, nice. From there we drove south west we stopped at many lookouts along the road until we reached the final most magnificent lookout, Pu'u o Kila.

Tuesday: We began with the spouting horn which is a waste of time if you've seen the blowhole. From there we drove to Po'ipo beach where we spent the rest of the day. What a lovely beach with endless activities. You have surfers, snorkelers and even an area behind the wave breakers for the kiddies. We spotted to huge sea turtles very close to shore.
At night we drove to Hanalei and a drink at Tahiti Nui. This is the most happening bar in Kauai with live music, at least so it seemed.

Wednesday: I bought a grill from Wal-Mart and spent the day at Lydgate beach park.
As you can see this was a family trip, so if you're not traveling with kids DON'T spend days in the pool.
Go on wild treks, helicopter tours, scuba and snorkel oops did I forget to mention jeeping.

The End

I would take it easy on the spending you don't want to risk another FR.

Is there any way to get free baggage on hawaiin (im using aa miles - will my one world sapphire status help?)?

Also, I'm only finding ogg-hnl-nyc for my return. If ogg-lax-nyc opens up would i be able to switch and get back the 5k?
Officially with the new HA CC you can receive a free bag if you purchased the ticket with that card, so I don't know if that would help you unless someone has gotten waived baggage without purchasing the ticket with their card.

You can reroute with AA as long as you don't change your departure city and destination, but if you wish to redeposit miles you need need to pay $150.

Moishebatchy, you may want to check out a Thai boxing fight.
If you're looking for a day trip:
The golden triangle is nice once you're there you can take a nice 10 minute boat ride to Loas and check out the market place there, but there's nothing in Myanmar.

It was a solid job! kol hakavod! making us a proud nation!
And that's without even hearing the entire interview ;)
Regardless I think that after all said and done it was a great kiddush hashem to publicize this story I'm sure it had a positive impact on many.

Well, 25 minute interview in 25 seconds.
Should really avoid the media. The editing and splicing of what I was trying to say is ridiculous.
I don't know what the full interview was like, but from reading the article they don't seem to make you look bad and/or depict the story in a negative manner which is something the media is good at.

There are many options besides EK. Using AA miles you can fly CX, EY, QR and BA(YQ). Using AA partners you'll also have the option to use the explorer chart which may be cheaper e.g. in J with QR.
You can also transfer from SPG to JAL which may require fewer miles.

Wouldn't a RT on UA be 12k?
Yup, does it say anywhere differently?

That's from 3 years ago!
Things change.
I didn't realize it was that old :-[
