Then you're not looking or negotiating hard enough.
Maybe you're right. What do you think I should be paying for a 2bd a night?

Stop worrying about the area, everywhere on the west coast of Maui is perfectly fine.  As I said in the Maui guide, our family rented a condo in Kihei and it was great.
Find a place with nice pics and a good price and stop sweating it.
The only problem is that the $200 a night places don't look great, But I'm sure I'll find something :)

Why in the world do you need to get a place in Kaanapali?
Dan, can you please elaborate? Why get a place in Kaanapali as opposed to what? Maui revealed actually says that the nicest beaches are in the Kaanapali area and/or south Kihei. He says that there are more kid activities in the Kaanapali area. So back to my original question why not Kaanapali? Another thing is I may end up spending a lot of time in condo/resort, so I refer a nice place for the kids. Again,  I appreciate your help, but I need to understand why not Kaanapali, and where to go instead.

and y not? Every one that got delta to honor the tix wasn't booked either.
What I meant is that I highly doubt he got  them to honor tickets without a pl contract etc.

I think we should move this conversation to the ethical thread...
Although I do not agree with the rabbi of ny, further more he might make it that in a future glitch (iyh soon) they will not be as easy.
I don't think he really got them to honor ticket that were never booked.

If you had the option of being in hyatt Maui,  anywhere in Kauai or in Waikiki for shabbos which would you pick?
I'm not sure where you are going, but to the best of my knowledge at this point I'd like to be somewhere in Maui.

From this it seems that you're making plans without having bought Maui Revealed.

You have now earned an automatic 24-hour suspension from DDF.
I actually bought the book and just started reading it.

Why in the world do you need to get a place in Kaanapali?
Both.
Someone I know that lives in Hawaii told me to look into because his brother got a good deal there, and it looks like a nice place.
Other than that I'm opened for suggestions on a better area/hotels you can recommend in Maui.
Yes, if not a lot more I would prefer a hotel setting with grounds/pools rather that stay at a home with a small pool off the beach.
Again if you think I'm off please I'm open for advice as I'm very unfamiliar with Hawaii.

These prices are highway robbery. Check out VRBO and Airbnb, you could get a 2bd place for $200/nt.
+1
I appreciate your help, but I beg to differ. I just checked VRBO and they were actually more expensive they want close to $4k for a 2 bd at the Kaanapali vs $3500 from the timeshare ( Which in actuality they're the same, because they are both renting out timeshare units).
Look if you can find me a nice 2bd for $200 a night by all means.

However, they did offer a nice 2bd for $350 a night at the which I'm considering. This hotel is the Hokulani if anyone is familiar please chime in.

Why not just rent a condo on VRBO?
Exactly. I can't understand why anyone but a couple (and mayyybe a baby) would consider anything else.
These are condos. They both come with a full kitchen, washer and dryer, living room and a balcony.

After doing some research I found a 1bd/2bd at the Westin Kaanapali going for $1900/$3500 a week. This is through a timeshare so it's non refundable.                                                                                                                                                                                                                     I have a few questions:
Has anyone stayed at this property? If yes, how nice is this property? Is it worth the price? How's the area? Any comments and suggestions are welcomed.
We are 3 adults and 3 kids ages 4,2 and 1 does anyone know if they are strict with 3 adults and 3 kids in a 1bd that sleeps 4?
I see that there's an SPG property with the same name I assume it's the same property, but can it be that it's a separate building?

We really enjoyed our stay there. There should be many units there that you can rent. They are most likely pretty similar. We had a great amount of privacy and got to really relax. The kitchen and unit itself were really nice and the location was amazing as well. Would certainly recommend.
Where did you stay? How much did you pay?
