Up In The Air / Re: Elal airlines
« on: April 26, 2017, 04:41:53 PM »
I am flying with my family (2 small children) from YYZ to TLV on Elal. They fly the 767, and it is supposed to be a less than stellar experience. I was wondering if anyone has had success getting upgraded on Elal  just by asking nicely, and if you have a contact that you have reached out to? I know this is probably an insane question, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

Thanks in advance!

No. LY does not have premium economy buckets. They sell everything as economy and you can purchase at extra cost economy plus. Same way UA works.

Has anyone ever flown the premium economy on the Elal 767-300? Is it worth the upgrade? we are flying with young  kids, so anything to make the trip easier....

I might be wrong, but it seems that if you want to book Premium Economy on ElAl, you need to book regular economy and then go in and upgrade. Is there a way to know if PE seats are actually open before booking the regular seats?

best way to book the following:

yyz-nyc (ideally EWR)
stay for a weekend
nyc-tlv (direct)
tlv-yyz (direct)

business class is preferred, but open to premium/coach.  I have 250K united, 450K UR and 100K SPG.  Any thoughts on the best way to search/book this?

Is there any benefit to using the CRS on the UR website to book travel vs. on an OTA?

has anyone reported being able to get a 2nd CSR? Perhaps by giving recon a good reason (separate kind of charges that you need to keep track of)

I am going to buy a a few thousand dollars worth of tickets on Air Canada (travel from yyz-tlv). I already have the Sapphire Reserve. What is the next best card to get to buy those tickets with? Obviously, the bonus point are a huge factor, but so is the travel benefits (like insurances).

perhaps this was mentioned upthread, but according to the ABC article, the sellers did it for $5. Is that correct? That does not seem worth the time ordering the phone, let alone all this trouble with Google.

Thoughts?

Looking to take the wife to a hotel for a night for our anniversary. I don't have sytaus with either. Thoughts on Sheraton vs Park Hyatt? I would love to get a nice upgrade but no status.  I would be using points or cash and points. Which chain is more likely to give a nice upgrade? Is one hits that much better than the other?

Thanks!
