« on: November 01, 2016, 09:15:12 AM »
Rare opportunity to earn a great Signup Bonus transferable to SPG with an Australian Credit Card

AMEX Explorer 110,000 points
https://goo.gl/eEuZVL
[If you don't use the above link, the regular web offer is only 100,000 points.]

Key points:
110,000 MR Gateway bonus points after $1500 spend.
$400 annual credit for use through the Amex travel site, bookable in any name.
$395 annual fee, which is offset by the above credit.

110,000 points equals either:
82,500 Velocity Points
82,500 Krisflyer Points
55,000 Starwood points

This card also has one of the highest earn rates for your regular spend (2 points per dollar).
Of course, being an AMEX card, there are also many valuable rebate offers throughout the year.

Up In The Air / Re: Infant On Reward Ticket Master Thread
« on: March 10, 2016, 08:12:34 PM »
I posted this question, but realize that this was probably a more appropriate place to put it:
Question: I need to add infant to SQ Award reservation in economy.
Agent claims that it will be 10% of full fare economy ($2800) and not 10% of the lowest advertised fare available online through their site ($1020).
Is this a case of DROPR = HUCA, or is this indeed SQ's policy?
Can anyone here help? Thanks!

By mistake I transferred TYP from my account to my spouse's Krisflyer, instead of my own.
(Yes, it was an honest mistake.)
What can I expect next?

Yes
Family Pooling allows you to directly pool your Points or Points and Status Credits to an eligible family member living at the same home address. https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/content/ProgramBenefits/TermsConditions/#pooling

You can transfer your Velocity Points from your Membership Account to the Account of eligible family https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/content/ProgramBenefits/TermsConditions/#transfers
The advantage of pooling over transferring:
You can also pool status credits, but you can't transfer them.

Why do they still restrict the program to people with an AU address :(
Don't you have an Australian Address?  ;)

Can you pool a family's points together and then transfer everything into 1 SQ account?
Tsk Tsk Dan, I'd think by now you knew how to use Google  :)

At what point are these tickets "safe" so I can book ongoing travel to NYC?
Also, I see Virgin Australia partners with DL and Virgin America, as well as interline partners with United and Alaska.
Questions:
1. Will Virgin Australia provide boarding passes all the way if ongoing travel is on a separate ticket?
2. Will partner airlines "cover me" if Virgin Australia flight is delayed and I miss the connection?

Sorry to seem like an amateur - probably because I am one - but can someone tell me which frequent flyer programs (FFNs?) I can use for these flights? Would it be only Delta and Virgin Australia?

Double points in economy.
True that. I was skim reading.
Can anyone confirm the fare class?
Can't confirm it, but here is a source:

Where can I check? It doesn't show on Orbitz nor Virgin Australia.

For those who booked tickets and want to credit the miles to their Velocity account, make sure to activate this offer for triple points:
https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/content/Promotions/delta-triple-points/

Maybe someone can confirm, but I think these tickets booked into Class T, which has a base rate of 0.5 miles per mile flown on Virgin Australia, so tripled that would be 1.5 points per mile flown.
That seems better than crediting to Delta where the base rate is 0.5 miles per mile flown.
Any other ideas?

No reports of ETKT cancellations anywhere, not on FT nor AFF nor here, etc.
I called airline customer service to add FFN's, request KSML and seating, all done without any dramas.
There's been zero comment by Virgin Australia and Orbitz thus far, so I think there's a good chance this'll hold.
Especially that Virgin Australia's been dealing the last 24-48 hours with the media fallout on account of a weird tweet on their twitter account, I hope they're too distracted with that.

Thanks, I guess my question is whether it is worth waiting another month or two, or it won't make much of a difference.
And also whether my chances of an instant-approval are somehow diminished because I just closed it.
