2) The flight shows available on SQ's website, so I'm not sure why you say that isn't the issue.

As noted before, SQ partner availability is a subset of availability given to their own Kris members.  The only source for that data is SQ.

Oh, so EF is just showing SQ partner availability?

If you do a Star Alliance award seach, it says that at the top of the results page.

However, that is not the issue here. Sometimes a flight won't be listed if there isn't any award inventory in any of the cabins. In that case, you can easily create a Flight Alert either from the Flight Availability results or by using the Create New Flight Alert page.

A very annoying thing about EF is the need to re-log in after a few minutes of inactivity. I mean this is not a bank or something. What's the worst that someone can do, delete an alert?

It's so annoying when I have a whole search set up, and I do something else for 10 minutes, and I can no longer use the search. KVS has a big plus over this (even though I am finding them less and less useful). I can open as many instances as I want, leave them open for weeks, and just cycle through each one and hit enter, and boom

The session timeout is 45 minutes, not 10. If you are really experiencing session timeouts after 10 minutes then your browser isn't holding the session cookie properly.

The timeout isnít so much about security as it is about server resources. Currently, every open session requires resources on our back end servers.  This may change in the future but currently that is the case.

Its not from united
I searched 12/18/12 FRA-NYC united show's LH 402 in first (its not real availability) and EF show's no

That is correct, ExpertFlyer is not screen scraping Star Alliance award inventory from United.com.

http://www.FlyerTalk.com/forum/delta-skymiles/1397472-ke-award-now-bookable-dl-com-post19505511.html#post19505511

The attendee of the Chicago Seminars last month misunderstood our representative. Although we cannot comment on specific airline relationships, I can say ExpertFlyer is not screen scraping Star Alliance awards from the United.com website.

Those who don’t attend community events probably shouldn’t quote hearsay from them.

seams like FB is showing Saver availability with 0(O) seats,  DL doesn't see it either,
any explanation?

AF is blocking the outside world from seeing any O inventory on TATL flights prior to 6/1/2013. This has been reported by many to DL and AF and DL says they are working on it, but it is up to AF to un-hide the inventory.

Very nice of you to give us advise, but for your notice most people here (including myself, paying for your service a few years) know how to search on airlines websites, and don't need your advise on searching airlines websites. they expect Expert Flyer to have that + a lot more.
Would be very nice to see expertflyer.com expanding

Then you know that ExpertFlyer gets its data primarily thru direct GDS access which has pros and cons. The Pro is it allows us to offer a web based service with unique features such as alerting. The con is that not all airlines publish award availability in the GDS. At that point it is up to the airlines to work with us on adding the data.  So instead of just asking us for more airlines, which we already know you want, please reach out to the airlines themselves and let them know why you want EF to have their award data. Thanks!

Thanks. Just wondering... Are we talking about a matter of days, or weeks?

Days to a week, shouldn't be weeks. The developers are working on it right now.

Welcome!

Why the cumbersome need to search awards one airline at a time?

Most airlines have different award/upgrade classes with the same code having different meanings for different airlines. It allows us to offer robust searching for 1 airline instead of attempting a generic dumbed down search for multiple airlines.

You may also use various airline websites (UA/AC/ANA/QF/BA/AF/M&M) that have alliance search options if you feel that better fits your needs.

Welcome to DDF.

I'm paying the past few years for your program, although I'm really frustrated by the very selection of airlines supported for awards.

I was hoping for that to improve, but if it did, its way way to slow.

Please, please fix that !

Thanks a lot.

Thank you for your support SuperFlyer. We have consistently been adding award airlines since our launch 8 years ago, however this is largely governed by the airlines themselves so you should express to them your desire for them to have their award inventory in ExpertFlyer.

We do however have many exclusive features, such as Flight and Seat Alerts, as well as more depth in award and upgrade inventor for the airlines we do support (AA and DL upgrades for example) that are not available elsewhere.

Welcome aboard DDF!!

Thank you!

You mean that X, I, and O are accessed differently than the rest of the alphabet soup? I.e. if the general availability tool starts going through the alphabet, checking all the letters, it will cough when it hits those three?

Ouch. Was hoping it was the other way around. :(

Any estimated timetable?

Yes, award classes are different then fare classes.  The Flight Availability tool doesn't search for each class individually, they are published as a set.

UA Upgrade searching is more popular then award searching on EF, so we're tackling that one first.  Shouldn't be too long, we will let the membership know when it is available again.

I'm a bit confused here... maybe I'm misunderstanding how this thing works, but I was always under the impression that award seats were simply seats in another bucket (e.g. in biz, the paid buckets are J,C,D, etc. while award seats are I) and that anybody who has access to the bucket list (har!) can see what's in all of them. So if KVS, EF, etc. can all still see what's in the rest of the alphabet soup, why can't they see what's in X, I, and O? Did UA hide those buckets from the general public completely? Because if yes, how can partner airlines find available seats to show me when I search for my dates on their site (or ask over the phone)? And if not, why can't EF get the info the same way partner airlines do?

(Side note: I pulled up a UA flight on EF's availability tool, and clicked to create an alert. Even though "I" was not one of the fare classes listed on the page, I typed it in, and EF allowed me to create the alert without generating any errors. Think it'll actually trigger? At the rate things are going, I'm guessing it won't...)

Hi everyone. To clarify, the general fare classes are still available via the Flight Availability search. General fare availability is generally separate from award availability.

Moishebatchy - The Create Flight Alert page validates the flight information, not the class codes.

We are working to restore both UA upgrade and award searching and alerting. First will come the upgrade functionality, then the award functionality. Stay tuned and thank you for your patience.
