Credit Cards And Finance / Re: American Express churning is over!
« on: October 04, 2016, 11:54:56 PM »
Sorry if this has been asked and answered - I skimmed the last several pages and haven't seen it.  If I apply for a business card I've already had using a different EIN, can I get the bonus?  Anyone know from experience?

Thanks!

Up In The Air / Re: AS devaluation of EK redemptions

Oh please.
It flows out of every statement you've ever made, to give just a few examples:
1. your phone interview a few months ago (forget with who, was mentioned somewhere on the forums) in which you insisted that this whole business is " a win win situation" for both parties and so it's not going anywhere (which it clearly is-it's disappearing fast).
2. Your refusal, in the AMEX prediction thread, to acknowledge that churning is bad for the banks and that the fact that AMEX stopped if clearly reflects that.
(Is that thread even still here btw? Seems to have conveniently disappeared...)
3. Your sense of entitlement evident in your recent spat with AA on Twitter (in which, the loyal customer, was upset about how AA treated you after you flew for free from card points).

And countless others. It's only quite recently when you've begun to recognize the writing on the wall. Until now it's always been "when one thing closes, another opens", "that is the nature of this business", etc., a notion clearly not grounded in reality, as it's far worse now than it's ever been, and you now it.

I do hand it to you, however, that you do seem to have woken up in the past 2-3 months. Even AJK is discussing here about how disheartening the situation has become.

Don't be like that.  Nobody here comes to your work and starts criticizing you.  You choose to read/post on DDF, don't bite the hand that feeds you.

I signed up for the 50k TYP offer, and completed all the requirements a while ago.
The points haven't posted yet, but I just got a $300 bonus post as a credit, and I have no clue why I got it. Anybody have any idea ?

I had something similar happen 2 years ago - they probably have the wrong offer code associated with your account, you'll need to contact them if you prefer the 50k TYP to $300.

Youre lucky they gave you a month. I know of someone who had the same issue and ran out of time, his accounts were closed by the time he received them from the IRS. All they said was "sorry, you can try to reapply"

I was in pretty frequent contact with them, so when they received the notice saying the IRS wasn't providing returns to third parties, the rep was able to extend the deadline by a few weeks to allow me to request my return directly.  I guess the moral of the story is call often for updates and ask for extensions when you've done everything you can on your end.

At least we have time till April.

Though it makes you wonder if it has anything to do with Affiliate links..
but that would be really dodgy  ::)

I'm a week late but since nobody else pointed it out, worth nothing that DoC doesn't have affiliate links so that wouldn't explain it.

Credit Cards And Finance / Re: Amex F/R Master Thread
« on: February 20, 2016, 01:05:08 PM »
I just had an F/R clear (6 cards, credit lines all slashed to $3,100 but cards remain open) after the process took over a month through no fault of my own - I sent in the 4506-T form immediately, IRS said they weren't providing tax returns to third parties (I don't know if this is still the case or if it was temporary), I had to request they be sent directly to me and then mail them to Amex myself... long story short, the whole thing took a month, and I handled my end as promptly as possible.

Has anyone requested any kind of compensation (bonus points, statement credits, waived annual fees) for the fact that you couldn't use your cards for an extended period of time?  Considering doing this - especially for the cards with annual fees, seems uncool to charge me an annual fee but only let me use the card for 90% of the year - but I don't exactly want to play with fire after coming out relatively unscathed.

Anyone know if ANA charges fuel surcharges on Etihad?  In theory they shouldn't, but I've seen conflicting things on other websites and Etihad isn't searchable on ANA's website.  Thanks!

Anyone have success lately with applying for a US airways card while still having one? They're not letting me downgrade

Depends when you opened the last one.  I got approved on Thursday, opened last one 13 months ago.  I know others have been able to with less time between applications, but it gets much harder when it's been less than 6 months.

Got 2 cards.  Got the 50k and immediately cancelled one. Rep told me that I will forfeit the 25k.  Bs?

Definitely BS.  I was told the same thing when I closed a Virgin Atlantic card with them that had been open for a year, they're either manipulative or uninformed but either way the miles haven't gone anywhere.

Hmmm... Applied for 4 of the personal card today, the first two were auto-approved and then the second two went pending.  I just called in (Spanish recon) and the CSR I spoke to told me that she can approve the second two but that they will only provide the "benefits" (presumably she meant the sign-up bonus) for two of the cards, and she said that this is an Alaska Airlines policy.  I have no idea if she is correct about this or not, but figured I would post it here in case anyone else has heard this and/or in case this is a new policy.  I told her to go ahead and approve them (if she's right then there's not much of a downside since the pulls get combined anyway, and if she's wrong I assume what she said will have no bearing on what I actually receive).  I will post again once I see how many miles I receive.  If someone else has heard something similar, please post too.  Thanks.

Follow up: received the 25k for all 4 of the cards.  Will follow up again when I see if I receive the $100 statement credits on each (I'm just going to spend the $1,000 on each and see what happens).

Thanks for sharing your experience. I got conclusion, I don't want the trouble. I will keep one card, spending $1000 on it for $100 statement credit and pay the AF, downgrade the rest of 2 right after I activate them.  :)

I have received the $100 credit twice in the past, but not for simultaneous applications.  If anyone has received the $100 credit more than once recently doing an MBM, please post.  Otherwise I'm going to do the same and downgrade all except one.

well you need to have 5K credit limit to get the bonus, did you get that on all your cards cards?

Yes, received 5k+ on each of the four.  She said it as a general comment (something like "you can only get the benefits for a maximum of two cards, that's Alaska Airlines' policy"), not about my cards specifically.

I've searched a bit but haven't found the answer to this Q: I know that with my business platinum card, I was able to downgrade to green and get a 5k bonus for making a purchase on it.  Is the same true with the consumer card?  Thanks!  Sorry if this has already been asked and answered and I missed it.

Called yesterday and was told that "my account isn't showing this upgrade offer."  Don't know if that means they're now targeting it or if that's just the lingo they're using, but figured I would share the data point.

16
WIKI should be updated this upgrade id dead

Are you saying that based on something a representative told you, or just based on the fact that you couldn't find a link?

17
1) I haven't seen this addressed here - I just downgraded from Gold to Green, planning to wait for the 5K to post and then upgrade to Platinum and shoot for the 30K.  If I were to keep the Green for 1-2 months but upgrade to Platinum before 60 days are up, and then close the Platinum within 60 days of the upgrade, would I get away without paying any annual fee since I would not have had either for 60 days?  Or would they do some kind of prorating of one or the other of the fees?

2) Anyone incur an F/R yet meeting the $10K minimum spending requirement?  I've read through the F/R thread but haven't seen anything related, just wondering if anyone has had trouble because of that yet.

Thanks!

It appears the deadline has been extended: "To be eligible to receive 25,000 Membership RewardsŪ points you must apply for this offer by 10/31/13, make your first purchase with the Business Platinum Card by 11/10/14 and be enrolled in the Membership RewardsŪ program at the time of first purchase."

Credit Cards And Finance / Re: Multiple Chase Business Cards

Thats is called a 2BM, there is also a 3BM & 4BM. There is also a thread for that which should answer all your future questions about this - http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=9825 . Welcome.

Thanks Chucksterace.  I actually browsed that thread for awhile last night, but didn't see anything about this particular question.  I ask because in looking at a different thread on churning Chase cards, it seems people have had some trouble lately (especially during the 60K IB/IP promo) getting both, so I wasn't sure and couldn't figure out if this was due specifically to the similarity of IB and IP, or if Chase generally makes it difficult to get two business cards simultaneously.  Any input would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Here's some info about applying for multiple Chase business cards as explained to me by the Chase Business Lending dept:

In order to be considered for 2 of the SAME business cards you must have a different tax ID for each business. Otherwise, even if you have 2 different business names they will be considered duplicate applications as they are both under your social. One off them will then be automatically denied with no possibility of reconsideration.
This doesn't apply if youre applying for 2 different cards ie Ink Bold & Ink Plus.

(i learned the hard way after mistakenly applying for 2 Ink Plus cards last week)

Anyone have any idea if they give you trouble over applying for two different business cards for the same business?
