Up In The Air / 557$ JFK-TLV for PURIM!!
« on: February 05, 2015, 06:29:47 AM »
Here's how:
If you run a regular search JFK-TLV departing the week before Purim and returning the week after, the best you get is almost 700$ and includes very long stopovers.
You have to make 2 separate trips: 1. JFK-SVO 2. SVO-TLV

Example:
Trip 1: Depart JFK on Monday, March 2 at 2:20PM Land at SVO 7:20AM Teusday morning, March 3.
Return from SVO on Wednesday, March 11 at 9:50AM land at JFK at 1:30PM.
Price: 383$

Trip 2: Takeoff from SVO on Tuesday March 3, at 9:00AM, Land in TLV at 12:20PM
Return from TLV on Wednesday March 11, at 1:00 AM, Land in SVO at  6:10AM
Price: 174$

You end up with a 557$ round-trip flight on the same carrier with short stopovers.
Should work for other dates also.

Enjoy!

Up In The Air / Airlines with real business class Israel-Europe
« on: December 29, 2014, 07:50:35 AM »
Most airlines seem to only have fake "business" class on Israel-Europe and Europe-Israel where all you get is a reguler window or aisle coach seat with the middle seat blocked out.
There are still a few airlines that fly real business on these routes.

Swiss air: TLV-ZRH on some flights.

Turkish air: TLV-IST on some flights.

I'm sure Elal also has some flights with J but I never fly with them so I dont know.

Anyone have more info?

On The Road / Getting hotel points for group bookings
« on: May 08, 2014, 08:05:13 AM »
Is it possible to get hotel points for group bookings?
I work for somone that is involved with tours and he often books 50 or 60 rooms at chain hotels and pays a group rate per room diractly to the hotel.
1. Can he get points and/or night stays from the chain (Hilton IHG Etc')?
2. If for example he pays a spg property with the spg card and hes a gold member will he get 5 points per $ spent?

On The Road / Help with points on an Israeli ticket
« on: November 20, 2013, 08:46:03 AM »
(Before starting the topic I DID run a search and didn't find anything that really fit the bill)

About a year ago I was down in eilat with my guys and got pulled over by an undercover cop. it turns out one of my friends in the backseat wasn't wearing his seatbelt.
I had no idea he wasn't wearing it but that didn't play with the cop and she gave me a ticket for 250 shek and 2 points. He paid the 250 but I still got stuck with the 2 points, which is significant since it was my first ticket in almost a year and you need to have two fully clean years before all your points fall off the record.

Recently, I was going over some things and if I'm not mistaken the fine for a passenger in the backseat without a seatbelt is only 100 shek and not 250.
Additionally, a letter I got from misrad harishui listing my violations says that the violation is for allowing a passenger to sit in the front seat without a seatbelt, even though the ticket language says quite clearly that it was in the backseat.

Is there any way I can get the ticket or at least the points cancelled even though I paid already? Do I need a lawyer?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Credit Cards / Meeting Spending thresholds in Israel
« on: April 07, 2013, 03:23:18 PM »
Hi guys I'm new to the game and am just starting out with the spg consumer and biz cards.
heres the problem: I live in Israel, meaning no VR, Amazon gift cards and stuff like that sold here.
so how do you spend 10k dollars in Israel without actually spending 10k?
also I prefer not to get hit with too much foreign exchange fees.

I understand this issue may have been addressed already so a thanks to anyone that can point me to a relevant thread.
