its not working since yesterday.

Talk about high tech.
On the plus side, the 48 hours somehow includes flights up to 4 or 5 days out so....

OWV is just somtin special!
I stayed in one.
It was a nice experience but I didn't think it was as special as people on this forum make it out to be.
I wouldn't mind a beach vila a few steps away from the ocean but I would insist on a private pool.

Nothing except the inconvenience, logistics, and perhaps safety concerns.
A simple Google search brought up several websites that offer private speedboat transfers to the hotel of your choice. You input your flight information and they meet you at the airport same as the hotel does. No hassle.
As long as it is an established company with good reviews what safety concerns are there?

I am just trying to understand why anyone would pay $600 a person for two 20 minute boat rides.

Why would you stay in the middle of nowhere for shabbos instead of in one of the greatest cities in the world?

Curious question:
If one is staying at the Waldorf which is relatively close to the airport, what's stopping you from hiring a private boat-taxi for $100 to get to the hotel and saving a few hundred $$ per person?

More to the point: Is anything going down?
I'd be glad to join if it was in the next few hours.

Thanks for the help
Thank G-D after getting no help from ELAL (kept telling them and manager that its their fault and they need to accommodate me, manager finally told me that he cant touch Qantas ticket but Qantas should contact ELAL themselves) SMS with Qantas for 21 hours straight (no I did not go to bed thursday night) which I had to keep explaining my story again and again for every new agent who finally replied, I finally picked up the phone to call Qantas who put me on hold for few minutes and very nicely told me that after speaking to her manager she has sent email to ELAL and should get an answer in 24 hours.
Boruch Hashem after shabbos I see they changed to the ticket that I asked for the 1 pm from JFK although there was no award seats available. (it says R class)
Sorry for all the boring details but was just excited to share :)
IINM R class is upgrade to business class. You may be on a revenue economy ticket that was upgraded. Put in a Qantas or Alaska FFN and you may earn miles for the flight.

I cancelled TLV-JFK within 24 hours, and was charged 6k cancellation fee.
I tried to explain to the SMS agent that the Conditions of Carriage specify (section 5.3):

"In accordance with US Department of Transportation rules, customers who purchase a ticket in the United States for travel on Qantas may cancel their reservations and have their ticket refunded without charge within 24 hours of ticketing when the ticket is purchased one week or more prior to scheduled departure of the first flight in the itinerary."

https://www.qantas.com/us/en/book-a-trip/flights/conditions-of-carriage.html#-fare

The agent responded (see screenshot): "That pertains to a purchased ticket in the United States for travel on Qantas. Where in your flight is with LY"

Is the agent correct, that when booking LY via QF a cancellation fee is charged even within 24 hours?

Or is it because the flight originates from TLV?
My only residence is in the US, which is the address on file with Qantas.
Same goes for my CC and phone number.
Dont think they are correct. Huca or complain to the DOT.

They have New York/San Francisco/Mumbai/London/Hong Kong etc....this would mean that they are having issues everywhere.
Not necessarily.

If they have data from the last 10 years, they should be able to modal how many seats actually get sold at high prices in the few days before a flight. Assuming they can sell X seats at Y price that totals a greater number then the total for the expensive seats they would have sold = a greater total profit.

Don't forget that all these flights are sold as "light" fares which means LY will collect additional income from all the ancillary fees such as luggage, seating etc'

Lastly, not everyone is aware or has the patience to play the bidding game. If someone must fly on a given flight they will still likely pay the high price.

Therefore, LY can manage to capture the demand of those who will only fly at a lower cost without losing the extra revenue of those that are willing to pay the higher price. In economics there is a term for this and a way to show it on a supply/demand chart.
