Up In The Air / Connection Times - Am I cutting it too close?
« on: March 01, 2017, 10:45:52 AM »
I just booked round trip tickets for PHL-->ZRH and then ZRH-->TLV.
On the way there we land in ZRH at 8:30am and leave for TLV at 10:40pm so I know we're good there.
On the return trip we land in ZRH at 8:10am and leave for PHL at 10:15am.
These are 2 separate tickets so am I cutting it too close?
Will I have to go through customs and collect my own bags and then go through security again?

TIA and sorry if there is some other place this should be posted.

This is the paid edition thread, are you looking for a revenue ticket paid with UR or are you looking for an award ticket?

I'm new to this whole points thing so I thought I was looking for a revenue ticket paid with UR.  What's the other option?  Transfer Chase points to an awards program?  I have Saphire Reserve so chase points are worth 1.5, I haven't really seen a situation where it's worth it for me to do that, especially since I'm really locked in to those dates.

Up In The Air / Re: Random Travel Posts
« on: January 26, 2017, 11:12:26 AM »
Perhaps this has been answered somewhere else but random travel question:

If I book a flight from DC to Stockholm with a stopover in in Paris can I then book a flight from Paris to Tel Aviv and just skip the 2nd leg of the trip to Stockholm?  Will I be able to get my luggage in Paris or will it go straight through to Stockholm?
What about on the way back?  Can I book the same itinerary and get on the flight from Paris to DC without having been on the Stockholm to Paris flight?

Wanna climb Masada on Thursday morning - anyone know details such as how much they charge and what's the earliest we can start?  We're coming from Beitar Illit and the plan is to get up super early, 3ish and get there so we can start climbing as early as possible. Would love to get to the top in time to daven vasikin but its so early now that I have a feeling they wont let us start that early.

You can make it.

So what's the best way to get there?  Will I make it if I just take Roissy Bus?
It seems like the Grand Synagogue is only a 10 minute walk from the Opera, sound about right?

there is no minyan at the airport you have to go to paris

Yes we plan on going to paris for the day.  My question is will I have time to make it to a minyan in paris if we are landing at 5:45am?  How long will it take me to get through customs and get to a shul in paris?  I saw that the Grand Synagogue has a minyan at 7:45am, could I make that?

Landing at CDG at 5:45am on Monday - is it possible for me to make a minyan somewhere? If so - where and how should I get there considering time constraints?

Tech Talk / Re: Cell Phones in Israel
« on: June 19, 2013, 09:01:06 AM »
I'm going to Israel for 6 weeks what's the best option for me?  I don't necessarily need to free calling to america but it wouldn't hurt.
Also, do I need to bring a phone?  I have a galaxy S3 that I guess would need to be unlocked and I have an old blackberry 9700 that I could use as well but also would need to be unlocked.
Thanks in advance.

Destination Guides And Trip Planning / Re: Rome Master Thread
« on: May 01, 2013, 10:47:39 AM »
Going to Rome in August for a day and a half.  I've been doing some research and I'm confused about the best way to see the city.  We're landing at FCO at 8am on Wed Aug 14th and departing at 2:40pm on Thur Aug 15th.  I'll be with my wife and 3 kids (1, 7, 11).

Is RomaPass worth it if we're only there for that amount of time?
Are there other ways to skip lines?
What's the best way to get around the city?
If I go daven at the great synagogue am I able to look around as well or do I have to pay for the tour?
How do I know which restaurants are reliably kosher?  I know about yotvata but are there others?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Up In The Air / Buy ticket on flyfromusa.com?
« on: April 14, 2013, 09:58:24 AM »
I'm looking for tickets to go to Israel this summer.  I found a webstie called flyfromusa.com that had tickets for $865 and I'm wondering if it's a legit website or how to find out if it is.
