Credit Cards And Finance / Is it worth using AA miles?
« on: September 08, 2013, 12:31:03 PM »
If this topic is somewhere already, please point me to it.
If round trip tickets to Miami Beach from NY are in the high 300's - close to 400, is it worth using miles? I want to know if it's worth the standard 25,000 per ticket or even the 50,000 anytime ticket (right now the only one available). We plan on going for Purim. Thanks

Tech Talk / UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) - Battery Backup
« on: June 06, 2013, 03:37:47 PM »
Does anyone understand UPS's well? If you have a server that runs, say, 930 Watts, can you get a UPS that runs less or do you need the 930 at a minimum? They're very expensive.

Credit Cards And Finance / Best cash back
« on: May 29, 2013, 01:01:57 PM »
I just know someone will say it's in a thread somewhere, but there's just too much to search through. If someone can point me in the right direction...
Looking for the best card to get with the highest cash back (and low fee or free). No points, just cash. Thanks.

I have a feeling this has already been brought up but I couldn't find it in a search. When you click on get new replies to your posts, say there's one of the topics you DON'T want to see every time, but the other topics you do want to see, how do you get the one you don't want to see off hte list?

Tech Talk / ipad problems
« on: April 26, 2013, 03:53:58 PM »
Maybe someone has some idea here. I have two problems. I haven't used my ipad for a while. So I went to the app store to update my apps. It asked for the password, which I entered (I use it all the time on my iphone) and it kept coming back that it's wrong! A second thing. My version is 4.something. I wanted to upgrade to the newest version (5? 6?) but I can't even search and find the upgrade, just things like upgrade tips. Then if I ever find it, I won't have the password working. I called apple and they want $19 for each conversation! Any help would be appreciated. I'll check for answers after Shabbos. Thanks. Gut Shabbos.

I have an ipod gen 5. I don't have the cable and there is a password on it. I would like to see what's on it. I guess I can buy a cable for it from Target or somewhere, but how do I see what's on it?

Up In The Air / ElAl expiring points
« on: April 22, 2013, 10:21:11 AM »
Couldn't find another topic like this, unless someone can point me to one. This is the second time I got a notice from ElAl that a number of my points are going to expire. The options they give you are to use them! No options to extend them (like my AA miles). I've never really had enough ElAl miles to use so I was saving them. But this is crazy. Any ideas out there?

Credit Cards And Finance / Problem with two Amex SPG cards
« on: April 15, 2013, 01:58:47 PM »
So I have the personal card and more recently the business card. The problem is that they want my yearly fee on the personal. I wanted to combine the credit limits into the business card and they said that can't be done. So I'm trying to increase the credit limit on the business card so I can get rid of the personal card but they're asking for all kinds of financials, which I don't have because I got the card as Sole Proprietorship as per the forums. Anyway, I may have to get rid of the business card becuase of that. I don't want to pay two fees. I know you all say the business is better to have as far as financial hits, but the limit is a third of my personal card limit. Any ideas?

Tech Talk / Ipad and Internet
« on: April 15, 2013, 12:24:09 PM »
Need some help here. I have an IPAD that only has wifi capabilities. Not regular internet. Is there something that would get me internet service on it as if it came built in? I don't want to have to depend on finding wifi services all the time. I need the ability to use it anywhere anytime. Thanks.

General Discussion / Not found in Kosher for Pesach books
« on: March 11, 2013, 09:36:09 PM »
Thought it might be an idea to cover any topics that aren't found, or are hard to find, in the Kosher for Pesach books. For example, I have these oil lights from Chanukah which are handy to use all year if you light some oil instead of wax candles. My wife lights two per Shabbos. I was wondering if they can also be used on Pesach and couldn't find it anywhere. I called OU and they say you should NOT use them.

General Discussion / St. Moritz Warning
« on: March 08, 2013, 10:30:16 AM »
From The Lakewood Scoop. Be advised I have taken in children that touched this stuff, put in their mouth, etc., and it's incredible how it progresses into something very life threatening. A number of years ago I met the Rav that puts out a kosher for pesach book and told him that it's not an issue whether or not it's kosher for pesach, it's assur to use because of pikuach nefesh. He said he didn't know. Then he went and put it into subsequesnt books.

With Pesach Cleaning in Full Swing, Hatzolah Reminds Parents the Dangers of St. Moritz Spray
Mar 07 2013 12:13 pm
With Pesach cleaning in high gear and after several incidents last year, Hatzolah is reminding parents the dangers of the powerful St. Moritz chemical spray.
The chemical, which appears to be just another cleaning agent available in groceries, was removed from at least two Lakewood groceries last year after children suffered serious and possibly permanent injures to their face.

Parents of one child last year requested the graphic picture of their burned child be made public to serve as a reminder to parents to use extreme caution with the chemical.

Even a slight amount of the chemical coming in contact with skin or eyes, can cause irreversible damage.

Alternative - and less-lethal - chemicals are available. TLS.

Deals/Deal Requests / Wine and Grape Juice Flatbush Area
« on: March 08, 2013, 10:19:56 AM »
So now that Pesach is upon us (after we finish shoveling), where is the best place to get wine in the Flatbush area? Also grape juice? It seems you can't get grape juice in a wine store. The on line stores, even with their sales, seem more expensive. Hope this is a new thread.
